Absolutely Amazing (Reply to this comment)
by samjones
You are sooo right about Norma's. The menu is mind boggling, so much to choose from. I have eaten at Norma's more times than you can imagine and have never been disappointed. Have you tried the Waz-za, or the diabolical chocolate decadence French toast?
I have asked about the $7 oj. The answer I received, and it makes sense, is that they use something like 4 or 5 oranges per glass, and you get unlimited refills. Anyway, I don't think there is anywhere in NYC where you can have such an amazing feast in such a great setting, for about $30 including tax and tip.
By the way, have you checked out the amazing burger place across the lobby? $4.50 for a perfectly cooked delight.

...can't you review books, or architecture or something?? I have started and abandoned more diets due to this site (and usually, Curtis Edmonds has had something to do with my previous downfalls). This time, I was doing so well, then BAM! You had to go and say 'Devonshire cream'. I can feel my hips getting bigger even as I type. I think I'll go read some reviews of exercise bikes or something.
Seriously, though, this was yet another brilliant review. The way you describe things is amazing. Just, could you please stop describing Devonshire cream?
Regards,
Cindy

sounds delicious and all, but if anyone from Nyew York City came down to Alabama and tried to put wild mushrooms in biscuits and gravy, that someone would have a black eye faster than you could say Tuscaloosa. (Not to mention the $17 pricetag! Good lands gracious almighty!)

everything in here sounded incredible. But $17 for a veggie omelette? Those mushrooms better be magical. I don't live in a cheap city, and I dno't mind paying for a great meal, but this place sounds truly exhorbitant.
On the other hand, Lobster mac and cheese, mmmmmmm.
Wonderfully written review, here, yet again.

Thanks for the tip.

Ah shucks Teresa, you're making me blush with all these words of praise.
I'm with you on artificial foods. Many of the city's best chefs don't even "dress up" their dishes that much. They simply use the best quality ingredients available, and let the natural flavors of the ingredients take center stage.
Thanks for your gracious comments, which always make my day. :)

It's Sunday evening, and it has been a gray, rainy, humid day in NYC. You sure have me missing sunny California. And even though the smoothies at Norma's are good, they still can't compare to Jamba Juice. :)

It's Sunday morning in sunny California and I was going to kick off my day with a smoothie before walking my dog. Your review and the thought of "light and lemony griddle cakes" has got me salivating now...

Thanks for your kind words. Before Norma's, the most I'd ever been charged for orange juice was probably $4-$5. Well, at least the glasses are big at Norma's.

...your review. And what is in that orange juice anyway? I've had expensive breakfasts, but no one ever had the nerve to hit for more than a $5 for juice! Terrific review, though, really excellent work.
Best,
