| xsrr's Full Review: Sennheiser Electronic PX200 Headphone PX200 Collap... |
Sound Quality is everything for some people. I am obsessed with getting the Best Possible sound whether it's a Big Stereo or a Portable Player. When you get a portable player, one big example, the iPod, you expect it to be top of the line in everything, one subject people overlook on any portable audio player is the head/earphones they come with, they SUCK!!!. iPod Earbuds have to be the worst in sound quality, I could not distinguish between 128Kbps MP3 or 320Kbps MP3 or even lossless. Something had to be done. When you are in the market to replace the ElCheapo headphones your device came with, you have to look at factors like portability, sound quality(of course),open or closed design, and cost. Enter the Sennheisers....
I narrowed it down to 2 choices, the PX100 or the PX200, I chose the PX200's, Here's Why....
FEATURES: One feature the PX200s have is a closed Design, the soft material surrounding it seals your ear so no sound leaks, that's a good thing because it does not disturb others, and you won't have to raise the volume too high to damage your hearing. The Headphones fold up nicely into the case supplied with it so you take good care of your smart investment.
SOUND:TADA, sound quality is 100x times the quality of the ELCheapo Headphones you got with your device. High frequencies are crisp and clear, never overemphisised so they require no treble boost. Midranges are clear, not muddied out like in earbuds, Bass is where these headphones shine, even though they are sealed. Sealed Headphones have a reputation of weak bass, but the bass tube within the headphones really puts out accurate, not airy bass. It's 20,000KHz to 20Hz response is clearly present in high quality recordings,i.e: Lossless
EXPERIENCE: These Headphones take some getting used to, but after you have heard them for a while, you just don't want to take them off. I've listened to my whole music collection without getting tired at a not so high volume, for about 5 Hours which is a whole trip from San Antonio, TX to Nueva Rosita, Mexico. I listened to "Mozart's 40" in Lossless and Heard many details that I could not hear with iPod's ElCheapo earbuds. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's "Mambo Swing" was a blast to hear because of it's bass. So was Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven", Jimmy Page's Solo totally increased in quality with these headphones, Bruce Dickinson's Voice was a real test with "The Clairvoyant. All this coming from small, sealed, portable Headphones, and they are not Audiophile Quality.
COST: It Depends where, but it's Kind of Sketchy, Between
$50 to $70 dollars.
DRAWBACKS: They are Sealed,so you cannot hear anyone talking with these headphones,Case is a little Bulky, and the Cost. Some May find bass lacking, if you want more bass go for the PX100s, This wasn't a problem to me.
TIPS:Every Audio equipment requires a break-in period of use, these Headphones are no exception. Break-in period is about 40 Hours, so listen to them constantly, not continuously, and you will notice sound improvement within the break-in period, after they are broken in, They will be at top notch.
