| flak-attak's Full Review: Canon BJC 85 InkJet Printer |
My Grandpa Martin had a famous saying: "Dynamite always comes in small packages." As a child, I always wondered about him saying that; like, what was the point?
Then it hit me. The guy was only 5'6" or something like that! He certainly knew what it was like to look up to people.
When I think of my little Canon BJC 85, I think of my grandpa Martin. It's portable and very small (W 11.8", H 2.3", D 6.2", Weight 3.1 lbs.) compared to most printers, but it certainly fits the bill of dynamite coming in small packages.
Even though this printer is small like my Grandpa Martin, it doesn't ever have to look up to other printers and say, "I want to be like that when I grow up..." No, this printer stands tall above them all in quality, portability, and overall ease of use.
Quality
The BJC-85 is defined as a bubble jet on-demand printer. It will print a fantastic 720 X 360 dpi in both color and black and white (with smoothing). Maximum speed (in lower quality printing) is 5 pages per minute in Black and White and 2 ppm in Color.
Portability
I bought my BJC-85 for use in college along with my laptop. Not only was it easy and light to carry in my laptop case, but it was easy to set up to print documents where ever I needed them. Having three standard interfaces -- built-in USB, IEEE 1284 parallell port, and a built-in wireless IrDA. This printer also has an optional battery pack with an average 200 pages per charge.
Ease of use
My BJC-85 is so easy to use that I've all but lost my instruction manual. I simply haven't needed it. For near-continuous printing, it has a 30-sheet paper feeder. Having a straight paper path while printing, this machine allows for virtually universal mediums to be used. An optional Color Image Scanner Cartridge turns this printer into an instant scanner. And finally, servicing this computer is easy and quick: cartridge cleaning requires only the push of a button, replacing the cartridge only takes about 10 seconds, and installing or setting up this machine is very easy as well. You may even lose your instruction manual too.
In conclusion, I will recommend this printer to any professional, amateur, or anyone in between who needs a quality printer for portable or space-saving home or office use.
P.S. This printer is definitely a five-star machine, but because it is overpriced in my opinion, I have plucked a star from its crown.
