We looked forward to watching the movie with our 12 year old. We all enjoy the series, so much, in fact, that we bought it rather than rent.

What a disappointment. Noisy, not funny (actually boring). They took the characters out of the "neighborhood" and added alot of noise. New characters introduced did not work. The usual character interaction and hilarious response to situations was missing. Reminded me of Saturday Night Live when they used to imitate annoying singers as a joke, didn't know when to stop, and never realized that they were as annoying as those they hoped to satirize. We all felt the same way, so it wasn't an age thing.

I realize it's just a cartoon, but from Sponge Bob, one expects a "something for everyone" type of humor, and biting wit. It just wasn't there.

Why was Patrick wearing fish nets and heels at the end?

Caters more to the lower age group, as not much sophistication in the humor generally found in the series. For the really little ones, Barney type ending, but could have been done in 5 minutes of a regular series episode.
