The new airline, Independence Air has been around for a while, as United Express, but needed a change and opened up Independence Air in 2004.
Independence In General
Independence Air is based out of Washington Dulles, so it is a good place to get to and from Washington. Independence flies to the East Coast and now to select destinations in the west. They fly brand new CRJ jets and A319 to Florida and the west. A-
Check-In and Boarding
Independence Air has tried to make it easy to travel out of Washington by putting in internet check-in, the easy kisok's at the airports, and updating the interior of the A gates in Dulles. The shuttle buses are still out dated, but the A gates are generally nice. But be sure to check the monitor if you checked-in online as the gates change often. The nice thing too with Independence is that boarding is all done at once, so everyone can board at the same time. Now when you board, you can leave your bags planside and pick them up planeside at your destination. On all of my flights (10-11) we have been pushed back early or right on time. A
The Plane and Journey
I have flown many destinations on Independence, in which all of my flights have been cheap. I've flown on the CRJ's only and when you get on the flight attendant is nice and the safety announcement is done by a celebrity, which is generally nice compared to the rest of the announcements. On a few of my flights a baggage carrier puts up a sign that says to enjoy your flight. The seats are nice and warm leather in a dark blue color. In the seat pocket you have a SkyMall, Safety Card, and a sick bag. The food on the plane is just a bag of chips, and that is on certain flights. Otherwise it is a nice drink with the flight. Also on the flight, the service is great, they offer mints and hot towel service, along with many walks up and down the aisle. They are also very helpful and very friendly at the terminals. The positive attitude by all is a great plus! The costs are also great charging very little from $59 to $139 one way, which is great by now. A
iCLUB
Their frequent flyer program. This program is easy to use and is easy to get rewards by. It only costs 1000 miles to get a free flight! It is easy to use and easy to earn miles. A-
Total Earning
