I have mentioned Dermablend concealer in several of my beauty reviews because I can’t live without it. It is the best concealer I ever used for under eye circles but it does a lot more than that. Dermablend has an entire line of products for those with skin problems, uneven skin tones, rosacea, acne, and for those who want to cover major things like tattoos and severe birthmarks. My niece completely covered a large black tattoo on her bicep with Dermablend concealer and setting powder on her wedding day and not one of our unwitting relatives could spot it even hours into the reception.
Finding Dermablend products isn’t hard if you like to shop in the malls. I don’t particularly like malls. I prefer to shop online as often as possible to avoid the hassle of parking, crowds, lines, and all that jazz.
Since I am a devoted Dermablend user, it only made sense that I would go straight to www.dermablend.com to order my products.
The Website Design and Features
The site is quite progressive. The splash page will ask you to choose from the US, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain as they have separate sites for each of these countries. Once inside the US portion of the site, you are greeted with the face of a woman with imperfections on her face, half of which are concealed by Dermablend products and half of which are not. The visual is striking. You will also see that shipping is free for orders over $25.00. To me, that is a huge plus. I hate to pay shipping costs and always defer to websites that have low or no shipping costs whenever possible.
Another excellent feature of the site is a video you can watch that shows you how Dermablend products work and shows you the results. If you aren’t sure exactly what you need or what Dermablend can do, this video will clear up most of your questions.
You are given the option to become a member and to log in. If you are new to the site and become a member, which is free, you can save $5.00 off your first order. Becoming a member requires the basic information most sites ask: your full name, a user name and password, and email address. You will also be asked about your skin type and what conditions you may have to help determine which products are best for you.
Across the top of the page you can choose to go right to the products area and start shopping or you can choose to read some helpful tips, see before and after photos, read the latest press on Dermablend products, go to the men’s line, or check for sale items. There is also an option to go to “My Dermablend” which, as a registered member, is a listing of your current skin conditions and needs (as supplied by you) and the products you have purchased in the past along with any new products developed since your last purchase that may be helpful for your skin condition(s). There is one last option and that is the quick reorder option for those who knows exactly what they want, are members, and want to just reorder their favorite product(s) and go.
This is all very simple navigation and very easily accessible. The photos and wording are easy on the eyes and the site speed is fine.
Ordering From the Site
Ordering from the site is a breeze. Pick the products and colors you need and click to put them in the cart. The cart keeps a running tally of how much you are spending and you can remove products or add additional quantities to the cart in a click of the mouse. Once you are ready to check out, you will be taken to a page that asks for your log in name and password. If you haven’t already registered, you can take a moment and do that at that point. You need only register once and thereafter you simply fill in your user name and password to continue to the secure server and check out.
I never keep my credit card info on file with any website so when I go to check out, I need to fill that info in and verify my saved address. Within a few moments, my order number is displayed and an email has been sent verifying my purchase.
My orders usually arrive within a week. They are well packaged in boxes and wrapped in tissue paper. I have never had to use customer service because the products have always been exactly what I needed, however, the return policy is generous. You need only to send the item back with an explanation of why you were not pleased with it and you can exchange the item for another of the same in a different shade, or for something entirely different. You can also opt for a full refund. The customer service number is 1-877-900-6700 and can be used if you have any questions before, during, or after a purchase from this site.
Pros and Cons
As with any cosmetic purchase, ordering from a website can be tricky if you don’t know what colors work for your skin. Dermablend carries a fairly wide range of concealers, foundations, setting powders, body concealers, post surgical kits, and acne products. There is a very comprehensive color chart and a helpful page explaining how best to pick a color to suit your needs. Still, nothing beats actually trying the product on your skin before purchasing. If you are a first time Dermablend user, you might be better off finding out which shades work best with your skin tone and coloring at a brick and mortar store before ordering from the site. There is a store locator right on the website so you can easily find out where Dermablend products are sold in your area.
I already knew what color concealer I needed but I didn’t know what color foundation to get when I tried their new Smooth Indulgence line. The color chart and the FAQs for picking the right color led me to do just that. I ended up with the shade that matched my skin tone and density perfectly.
If you do decide to order through the website your first time around, you will receive a color chart with your order which will come in handy for future purchases.
I have had absolutely no problems with this website from a navigation standpoint or a customer service one.I highly recommend that you buy your Dermablend products through the official website rather than a random site that may not be as accurate with info or as liberal about returns and shipping costs.
