The Bottom Line Think for more than 30 seconds when choosing your Epinions name.
I am an idiot. When I joined Epinions almost 1 year ago, I had no idea I would become an addict. I had no idea I would write almost 100 Epinions in 11 months. Oh, to be joining with the knowledge that I have now.
My Epinions name has got to be one of the most boring on the planet. When looking at who reviews your Epinions, would you really click on my name to check me out? More than likely you would choose HeadlessChicken or Mr.Naughty, because they cause you to chuckle a bit and wonder about who these 2 people are.
k1j2g3...what does that inspire? Not much. It is a big jumble of letters and numbers that seems to have no meaning. Hard to remember. Less than interesting. And I regret my sorry choice every day!
The sad thing is, I really am much more creative than my name would imply! I even think that I can be humorous on occasion. (or maybe that is just polite laughter I hear when a bit of sarcasm launches itself out of my mouth)
MY BIT OF ADVICE TO YOU
Think carefully before choosing an Epinions name. You know what I based mine on? Something that was easy for me to remember. Isn't that sad? I thought I would maybe log on to Epinions every once in a while, and if I didn't pick something memorable to me, I would forget it.
Not a good way to choose an Epinions name, believe me. Your name is the first thing people on this site use to determine your online "personality."
Even if you think you will never write an Epinion, select a name that is meaningful to you, but also gives you a bit of mystery. Or at least a name that causes a guffaw out in your online audience. You never know when you might find yourself, a year down the road, with 94 opinions to your name, but only a few loyal readers.
WOULD I REALLY CALL MYSELF HotThongBabe?
Ok, maybe not. But I definitely would have chosen something between the two...maybe HuskyOwner or TransplantVictim. A lot more unique and interesting than my dreaded k1j2g3. Blech! Incredibly dull and unimaginative.
Please don't judge me by my Epinions name!
