I am doing without rather than deal with Verizon.

Pros:None that I can think of
Cons:"Con" is the word all right. Even their operators are sneaky.
The Bottom Line: Try someone else, anyone else, even if the costs are higher.

Verizon recently took over most of phone service in my area, mobile and otherwise. Until that time, I had been quite content with the service I had. I had a prepaid account with Airtouch. I'd even written a positive review about the service I had. The prepaid service was perfect for me. I use my cell phone rarely, carry it only for the secure feeling it gave me. The price at Air Touch, $30 for six months, made it affordable for me to have that security.

My husband also had Air Touch, but used it more often, and therefore spent more.

We recently had a rude shock. Since Air Touch had been taken over by Verizon, we now had to pay $30 every two months, triple the cost.

When I called to check on this, I was told that it was okay, I got the same amount of minutes I always did for $30, I just had to buy a card more often.

Since I so seldom used my phone, I had over 100 minutes I hadn't used. It wasn't the minutes that were important, it was the fact that it now cost me three times as much to have my cell phone! And that was too bad, they said, but that's the way it was.

I asked to speak to a Supervisor to see how to pass on my complaint. I was given a number to call. That number led me to exactly the same place I'd been before, where I was given yet another number....except that it wasn't. It was the same number I had called.

I am exploring other services, although their rates seem to be the same as Verizon. It doesn't matter. If we do activate our cell phones, it won't be with Verizon. And I will be replacing Verizon as my home phone service as soon as possible.

I don't like their attitude, I don't like being given the runaround or being lied to.

If this is a sign of future dealing with Verizon, I urge anyone reading this to avoid them.
