Have you any idea how hard it is to find kitchen towels on-line? I tried all my usual haunts like Target, Dillards, even Walmart... no luck with what I wanted at all. Somehow I stumbled upon The Towel Place Online Store. Not the biggest place on the Internet, but it's cute, and they do have towels.
It's not a big fancy site with many bells & whistles. Rather, it kind of gave me a small business intimate feel when I first discovered it. I like the blues and yellows a great deal. It's not gaudy, but it's not boring either. The first page is a bit of a welcome message explaining who they are and what they have. At the top of the page you can go right to shopping, read their terms, contact them with any questions, or read customer reviews.
I went straight to shopping, of course. heh. Here's where it gets a little confusing. It takes a bit to get to what you want sometimes, but not so bad that I'll never shop there again. Remember, this is the little guy. They don't have the fancy over-paid webmasters to keep things as simple as possible like the big guys do. Really, it isn't as bad as you may think. Just plan to spend a little extra time browsing is all.
As far as product goes, well, it's all about towels. From the shop now page you can click on the product list and get a text list of some of their items. This list isn't everything though so really I say skip it. There's no pictures of the items there anyway.. you have to click each individually and open the item up. Ick. You're better off to look to the left from the shop now page and click on the collections and shop from there.
You can choose from flour sack towels, waffle weave, prints, stripes, Terrycloth, seasonal collections, barbershop towels, etc.. also they do have aprons, oven mitts, bath towels, dinner napkins, and adult bibs. There's a lot more here than you would think at first.
I did find a set of bright multi-color items for my kitchen and ordered it happily. The check out was relatively painless and quick. It took about 10 days for my package to arrive. It was well packaged, and the product was just as described on the site. I was happy. They aren't the fastest in the world, but they're reliable from what I saw.
One plus they have is that not only do they accept Visa, AmEx, & Mastercard, but they will also take Paypal. I personally hate Paypal, but it's nice that they offer this choice when a lot of sites don't. They also have free shipping on all orders over $50.
My set was the 14 Piece Rainbow Collection Set for $18.95 and came with 2 mitts, 4 hot pads, and like 8 dish cloths. If I was disappointed by anything, it's because of user error. I thought this came with towels too. It looked like it in the picture, but they did not say it did. Now I notice the towels that match are separate for $11.95 for 5 of them. Going by the quality of the stuff I did get, I'm saying this is a damn good price.
So, I'm going with 4 stars for The Towel Place. If I was going to compare to all sites, it would be 3 stars.. but as a niche company that's small and friendly, well, I think they're doing a good job for a fair price. So it takes a bit longer... I can wait when it comes to supporting the little guy against the big machine. heh. I'm such a rebel.. give them a try next time you need towels. I think you'll like them too.
