The Bottom Line Ebay is a good community for buying, but always beware of sellers. Keep your guard up. You can find most anything on this site.

I was introduced to Ebay several years ago. It was just becoming more and more popular so I decided to give it a try. I went to the site to see what all of the hype was about. After browsing the site for a few minutes, I saw that there was a little of everything on this site and it was all being sold at great, competitive prices!
I like the outdoors and am always in search of fishing and hunting items to add to my large collection, which my wife is always complaining is getting way too large! I did a simple search for fishing and came up with thousands of items, and most were way below retail. It was then that I decided to register with Ebay (it's totally free to register) and watch to see if I wanted to bid with them. (Bidding is also free, but you must remember that anything you bid on could be yours, so don't go overboard, and know that a bid is a binding contract!)
Registering was simple and took no time flat. I entered my basic information and within moments, a code was emailed to me to complete my registration. In a matter of 10 minutes, I was ready to bid. The time did come when I thought I would try my hand at selling a few things here and there. A credit card had to be registered for protection and for billing. (There ARE fees associated with selling. You pay for listing the item and a percentage of your sales goes to Ebay!) My items didn't do all that well, as I had no photos and photos make the world go round with auctions. I ended up losing out because of the Ebay fees.
Categories and subcategories are endless on Ebay. If it's anything of interest to anyone, you can find it there. Everything from sporting goods, dolls and toys, collectibles, property, automobiles, electronics, and even an adult category (also requires credit card for age verification), it's all there at Ebay. One word of advice... when searching for something, try alternate spellings, as not all sellers get the dictionary out when listing their items. For example, when looking for a Game Boy, I entered Game Boy. Then I entered GameBoy. Finally, I entered Gam Boy and GamBoy. Would you believe that there WERE items listed for all 4 spellings? Be aware that sometimes mispellings can help you out. Not everyone checks the mistaken words and they go for lower prices! That's just my Ebay tip!
If you are on the market to buy anything at all, check Ebay.com before you go buy at a store. Sometimes you can find the greatest deals ever! As for selling, use your own discretion and good luck with whatever you choose.
