After rereading my initial review of Aromaleigh, I have decided to update my opinion of the company, its website and product line. I have reconsidered my rating.
Aromaleigh is a cosmetics company offering mineral makeup in loose powder form. Some of their product line includes foundations, finishing powder, blushes, eyeshadows, lipsticks and cosmetic brushes. Their most recent offerings consist of fragrances and extra-bright - non-mineral cosmetics. They offer a huge selection of colors in every category. This company is animal friendly - which was a plus for me. Aromaleigh offers full size jars of products, mini-jars of some products, and samples for purchase. It is a nice option to take advantage of buying inexpensive samples before you invest in full size products. All of the jars have sifters which makes applying mineral makeup much easier because you can control how much of the powders are dispensed through the holes. The jars are no longer shrink wrapped, but the sifter is covered to avoid spilling during shipping.
Aromaleigh offers clear photographs of each product along with detailed descriptions each color and their textures. Over time, I have found the photographs and descriptions are *not* always true to the actual product. The website is quick, easy to navigate, but not always easy to order. If there is a coupon or sale, it can be difficult.
I have ordered from Aromaleigh many times and each order is filled accurately. They offer 3 free samples of eyeshadows with each order, along with one free sample of lipstick. These samples are about a pinch of loose mineral makeup and do last for at least a few applications. Shipping is usually one week and arrives well packaged. I have not returned anything so I cannot comment on their customer service in this area. Payment can be made by credit card, and Paypal was recently added to the payment options.
I did have trouble with one order and customer service was prompt, albeit curt. I joined their referral program and referred my sister to their products. This program gives the new customer a $5.00 coupon and beauty dollar credits to the person who sent the referral. I am unsure if this program still exists.
I received an email from Aromaleigh with a link for my sister. I clicked on the link once to read it before I forwarded it to my sister - however when I went back to the website to place a new order, it gave me a $5.00 credit. It must have enabled a cookie in my PC that communicated to their ordering system. Their staff emailed and advised that my order had been canceled but also seemed to reprimand (i.e. accuse) me of trying to get the $5.00 coupon that was allotted to my sister (the new customer). This was an incorrect assumption. They then instructed me to reread the referral program policy for clarification, which was unnecessary. Not only can I read and follow directions, I can also write my opinions! I tried to order again and it happened twice more. They requested I shut down my PC and on my own deleted my cookies/favorites to get the order to go through. I think this is outrageous. Because the issue was a computer related glitch, I think the customer service could have *and should have* been more polite and less assuming. Thinking back, it was a very frustrating, time consuming and they could have been a little more apologetic and sensitive to my time. This experience did leave a poor impression of their level of professionalism and communication skills. It was intially not enough to deter me from purchasing their products, but over time I have reconsidered. I was a loyal customer, spending quite a lot of money while also referring friends and family. I should have been treated better.
Overall, I was very happy with their cosmetics, quick delivery, careful packaging and easy to navigate website. I have recommended Aromaleigh to quite a few women, but will not continue to do so. I have since found an alternative.
