Brief Review of Mp3s
If you've been living a cave for the last few years, you may not know what an mp3 is. Made by an unnamed high school student (good thing he's unknown, cause he'd be sued out the ying-yang), it is a music file that is a full song. This previous was done with .wav files, but was not very popular, as they took up about 50-60 megabytes each. Mp3s compress the file down to about 1/10 of the size while still retaining the quality of a CD, and has spawned much problems with the RIAA and file swapping services. They are suing and suing, but they don't realize that no matter what they do Mp3s will still be around like Warez and Appz are.

What does Winamp do?
Besides the obvious of playing mp3s, Winamp can do much more. Winamp is able to play .wavs and CDs, they are many more features.

Equalizer
Custom-tone your songs with this fully-featured equalizer. The lines begin to blur between Cds and Mp3s with that feature.
Playlist
Add a song, or an entire directory and get an unlimited of mp3s to play constantly. You can have it automatically shuffle between them, play just one file, or one after the other. Easy sort your mp3s by date, title, or filename. You can have it auto-create a web page with a list of your songs. You can also add URLs that play Shoutcast! shows..what is shoutcast?
Shoutcast
Lets you become the DJ. Host your own radio show over the internet when you download the plug-in. Custom spin your own mp3s, and play it for the world wide web to hear. Easy to set up and easy to listen to.
Skins
Have your Winamp player have custom art on it. Many skins out there for Winamp.


What is so good about the player?
Besides being feature-loaded, Winamp hasn't crashed on me once even though I've been using it for over a year now. It is also a free program, which is obviously a big thing for how good of quality it is, no banner ads either.

Is there anything wrong with the player?
For the average mp3 user, none. Some others offer more advanced features, but I feel the necessarities are here.
