Pros: Excellent contrast ratio, Large screen, Easily adjustable stand
Cons: Poor response time, Poor color presentation.
The Bottom Line: If you use it mostly for browsing internet and reading text, you should go with 1905FP. If you play games or watch movies, you definitely want something else.

| calvinyw's Full Review: Dell UltraSharp 1905FP (Gray) 19" LCD Monitor |
I bought the Dell UltraSharp 1905FP 19' a week ago. Since I also have a Princeton Senergy 714 17' LCD monitor and my computer supports dual monitor setup, so I was able to make a side-by-side comparison. Here's the result:
Dell 1905FP Pro:
1. Excellent contrast ratio. Dark is very dark. When the 1905FP serves as the second desktop with nothing on it and a black background, I couldn't tell if it's on or not just by looking at the screen. That's how dark it is. The result is that text shows up crispy clear. Even though Synergy has a much brighter screen, I still prefer to read text on the Dell because of the high contrast ratio.
2. Large screen with the same resolution as Princeton 714 (1280*1024). So text is easier to read.
3. Easily adjustable stand (pivotal) with extra USB ports.
Dell 1905FP Con:
1. Poor response time. I believe 1905FP is spec'd to be 20ms (or 25ms?) response time when the Princeton Synergy is 16ms. I have to tell you that it makes a huge difference when playing movies. Dell 1905FP's ghosting is very bad when playing movies. When objects move across the screen, the edge is never clear until they stop. And I wasn't even playing action movie! Synergy has minimum ghosting, and watch movies on it is actually a pleasure.
2. Poor color presentation when playing movies. Despite all my attempts to adjust the color, the color still come across as "fake" and "unreal", while the Synergy's color is much more natural. It's almost like 1905FP doesn't have enough gradient to properly display the color transition, like 1905FP is on a 256-color scheme while Synergy is on a 65365-color scheme. (Both of them are set to 32bit true color.) However, the problem is only noticeable when playing movies. It dosen't seem to affect photo viewing.
So my conclusion is, if you use it mostly for browsing internet and reading text, you should go with 1905FP. If you play games or watch movies, you definitely want something else.
By the way, both Synergy and Dell has excellent viewing angle, DVI connection and a native resolusion of 1280*1024.
UPDATE per members' request:
The monitor has footprint of 9*17. Installation is very easy. When turned on the first time or after signal switch, it automatically adjust images, and the result are usually very satisfactory. The height can be easily adjusted by pressing down the unlock button at the back of the monitor and raise the monitor. The only limitation on the adjustment is the monitor can only be lowered to about 4 inches above the desk from the lower edge. So if you like the setup where the monitor is half-buried into the desk with a 45 degree angle facing upwards, this could be a problem.
