The Bottom Line Always, always look for romance in unexpected places.

I've never admitted to this before, but I'm a sucker for romantic movies. When I'm alone, I love a good movie that will make me cry, especially a nice, quirky romance. But I also love to find romance in unexpected places. And thus, in no particular order, my list of the 10 most romantic movies.

--A Pyromaniac's Love Story: This is a funny, quirky, highly underrated movie starring John Leguizamo as a poor guy who works in a bakery. He dreams of being able to see the world with his girlfriend, Hattie, but his plans get sidelined when the bakery is destroyed in a fire.

--In Love and War (1996): Chris O'Donnell plays Ernest Hemingway in a deeply romantic World War I drama that evokes "A Farewell to Arms." The beauty of the Italian countryside contributes immensely.

--The Wings of the Dove: Everyone seems to have this one on their list. It's dark and lush and showcases Helena Bonham Carter's range as a poor women who has found love in a poor man. Their scheme to be together plays on an American heiress's loneliness.

--Out of Sight: I loved the book, and I love the movie. Jennifer Lopez is a federal marshal, and George Clooney is a fugitive bank robber who is entranced by her. The sexual tension is palpable, and the result is a wonderfully passionate movie.

--Untamed Heart: Not exactly a classic, but still one I love. Marisa Tomei plays a diner waitress who falls in love after she is rescued by a mysterious and quirky coworker (Christian Slater). Their love affair is passionate and meteoric, and you'll cry. A lot.

--Ever After: Drew Barrymore headlines this version of the Cinderella story, set in the beautiful French countryside. Dougray Scott is her snobbish paramour, the prince. The script is clever and witty, and the whole cast performs wonderfully, especially Patrick Godfrey as da Vinci.

--Mad Love (1995): More Drew Barrymore, this time as a manic depressive teenager named Casey. Her boyfriend Matt, played by Chris O'Donnell, helps her to escape from the mental hospital her parents have checked her into, not realizing all the consequences.

--But I'm a Cheerleader: Natasha Lyonne plays a teenager whose parents fear that she's a lesbian, and check her into a facility to "fix" homosexuals. There, she meets Graham (Clea Duvall), a lesbian that doesn't want to be fixed. It's a sweet, romantic, offbeat movie.

--The Object of My Affection: Jennifer Aniston plays an unwed pregnant social worker who falls in love with her jilted gay roommate (Paul Rudd), much to the dismay of her family. It's sad and romantic, and Alan Alda is hilarious.

--Everyone Says I Love You: Woody Allen's offbeat, sometimes silly musical featuring an impressive all-star cast. This movie follows a very rich, liberal family through a year's worth of romantic exploits. The songs are sweet, the characters are odd, and the end result is wonderful.
