Gambling in the US

The Bottom Line Gamble at your own risk If you have any questions or comments please e-mail me at casino2001@juno.com

In the time of the second world war my father and his comrades were Prisoners of War
being escorted to the train station by Russian guards. In a line formation of roughly 2 to 5
hundred prisoners my father fled the pack; risking his life as the guards fired their machine
guns after him. Of the many that attempted this escape, he survived the bullets. Leaving
the line was the logical choice, for the line lead to Siberia (and as known Siberia was a one
way ticket, no escape and no hopes for survival). However that was then and this is now.
Today you (society) are no longer prisoners of war but yet you are still in the line. Like a
wounded wolf you remain in line only to be preyed upon by the unwounded, ready to
pounce at a moments notice. The wolves they will eat each other. And you are that kind of
man/woman/child who gives up the real life for the material gains. And your choices are
almost equal to zero, this is the age of the money craze. This is the line that you remain in,
but it is not to feed your families, it is the line of instant gratification. You squander your
money on the lottery because this week the jackpot is 80 million and you spend your days
and nights in the casinos with false hopes to entertain yourself. However after you lose
your paycheck you turn to your credit cards. I know this because I have seen you night
after night, don’t deny this, I was the seventh in the line standing with a cup of quarters
and the four of you in front of me maxed out your credit cards. Tell me how long are you
going to do this or how long can you do this? Don’t you see you are already a wounded
wolf whom the pack is ready to attack. Don’t you realize you are not in fear of the bandit
who yells in your face “Money or your life”, but you are hounded by a society of native
Americans who hire these bandits as your attackers. Don’t you see you are old and your
days are numbered but you are more materialistic than you’ve ever been before. Don’t you
realize that you are a 19 year old and a Rock band graces the stage of the casino, and you
are not watching the band but you are playing the slot machines, and after you lose your
money you might take it out on your friends. Don’t you see that there are almost 2000
Casinos, Cruise ships, Card rooms Race tracks in the United States where you can lose
your money. Its all an illusion, you only think that you might win. How long can this last,
but I do wish you good luck; and who knows I might be the next player by your side, and
you will ask me to buy your watch, or ring, or Swiss army knife, maybe even drugs. I
think the worst places in the world are the casinos, and it feels like we are the POW’s that
hope to escape, like my father did. As for now goodbye, and I will write you more and
thank you my friends that support the casinos in California, and all over the USA. This is
what our society has come to, we are a people overcome by greed.
