Epinions: Not just the pay out.

The Bottom Line The money has changed since the beginning, but Epinions is still one of best sites on the Internet.

I've got to say, when I first joined this site, all I cared about was getting cash. When I first wrote an Epinion, it was read, in under half an hour, by enough people to get me what I'd say is a sufficient amount of money. I stayed at the site. I wrote mediocre reviews, and I concentrated more on quantity instead of quality. I didn't really care what people thought of my Epinions, all I cared about was getting some cash, however small it might be. I didn't review or read anyone else's Epinions.

Of course, after a while I realized that this plan of action wouldn't cut it. I began reviewing other people's works and spent more time on my own. I began to make more money, I began to get some people to trust me.

It was some time ago that I stopped writing for the money and began writing for the reviews. For the intellectual property. I started writing for a different goal: To make good Epinions, instead of my previous goal, To make money. And as I wrote these different, better Epinions, I actually began to make more money.

You can NR this Epinion if you want. This Epinion has no seriously thought provoking point. All I'm using it for is to give a little bit of advice and share a little bit of an idea. The best writers on this site strive to make every single Epinion as well finished as possible. I've learned a lot about Epinions ever since I joined, but one of the best things I've learned is that the way to make money is to try not to make money. If you just write Epinions to write good Epinions, your Epinions will be good enough to make you good money. If that makes any sense.

This is my 100th Epinion, and so far, I haven't received a prize. Oh well. Even after Epinions.com is long gone and dead (hopefully that will never happen, but the future is never certain), and I'm not making any more money from it at all, I'll still be satisfied. If that ever does occur, thanks to everyone who's ever read or written on this site, I'll walk away a wiser man.
