Pros:Simple installation. Sturdy mount that doesn't feel floppy as I thought it might.
Cons:Wall bracket can twist on wall. TV bracket screws too short.
The Bottom Line: Great, simple product with easy installation. Secure, sturdy, and feels strong. As with any universal bracket, be prepared for a few issues.
I used this mount to install my Syntax Olevia 20" TV to the wall in the bedroom. Paid about $80 at CompUSA. I wanted a silver one, but they only had black... oh well.
Installation is easy, and the instructions are clear. The only issue during installation is that the knob has a washer with a square socket which can get caught during installation. Nothing major, you just need to turn the washer to fit in properly.
After installation, it feels very sturdy. I didn't think 2 screws would be so firm fitting on the wall. The only complaint I have with the wall mount is that the screws are not "shoulder screws" so the flop around in the base a little. This causes the base to twist slightly when the TV is to one side or the other. Tightening the screws helps a little, but I can't help but wonder if it will eventually twist off-level. It won't come off, but it's a little annoying to go through all that work, and see it slightly crooked. I guess if I am bored, I can install a collar to help keep it in line, but it's fine for now.
One trick with the VM3 - Our studs weren't on-center with the wall we wanted to mount the TV to. By removing one arm segment (so it works like the VM2 model) it allows us to keep it flat on the wall, yet off to the side about 6", which is closer to the center of the wall.
Of course, the outset of this is we can remove or install each arm individually as desired. So, we can make it work like the VM1 (right up against the bracket) or the VM2, or the VM3 with two arms. I'm glad they didn't do something silly like make the arms different for no good reason - the consistency helps you customize it once you get it all installed. Nice.
UPDATE: Forgot to mention one thing. The screws supplied with the bracket are the right diameter, but the wrong length. The screws that came with the TV are the correct length, but the head is a little too small for my comfort, given the hole size on the bracket. For this reason, I had to find some washers that were the right size for the screw. Fortunately, I had some, but it seems to me that they spend all this time making a "VESA Standard" for these brackets, then they can't get the screws right? Silly. But, again, not either manufacturer's fault, so I can't blame either the TV or the bracket for this. Just be prepared...
