Bánh Mì, or the Vietnamese sandwich, is a perfect summertime snack food -- crispy, light and delicious.

Perfect description of the Bánh Mě (Reply to this comment)
by blackrose36
I can almost taste it reading your description of the Bánh Mě from Saigon Bánh Mě.

I live in Los Angeles now, but lived in NYC till I was 24. I went to IS 131, so I walked by almost everyday (from the police headquarter area), so I practically grew up on that stuff.

Now all I need is someone to find a place in Los Angeles that makes it JUST like the way Saigon Bánh Mě makes it, there's nothing compared to it!

Thanks for writing this. I've referred to it umpteen-seventy times on my way to various banh mi places. Update: there are more and more of these sprouting up in Sunset Park's Chinatown, 8th Ave., all the time.

I personally did all the walking, tasting, and ratings for this review. All this info was stolen (cut and paste) by "the rogue" on chowhound food site.

Flushing Bahn Mi (Reply to this comment)

Just a little "outer borough" sandwich info. Pho Bang restaurant at 41-07 Kissena (a mere block from the Main Street 7 station, across from the Library at Kissena and Main) serves up a pickley, crunchy, meaty, cilantro-y, crispy Bahn Mi with exactly the right amount of sliced hot peppers to make a statement without making your eyes swell up. All for a cheap $2.50. Also, the pho here is nothing less that perfect.

Another place in Brooklyn (Reply to this comment)

I missed this place the first time around when i cruised through Brooklyn Chinatown. The place is called Ba Xuyen, at 6011 7th Avenue, just a block west from 8th avenue, near 60th st.
