| puggsley456's Full Review: Jl Audio 12W0 Car Subwoofer |
I purchased this JL 12Wo-4 as a temporary subwoofer in a prefab 1 ft^3 sealed enclosure, while I was waiting for my main subwoofer to come back from warranty replacement. I'll be honest, I am an extreme bass head. I cant live without having some sort of bass in my car. And that's where this beauty comes in. I was at first very sceptical that this single driver, which is rated for 125rms, could handle the amount of power that my Phoenix Gold Titanium 600.2 would be sending to it(600rms). Well It took it no problem. I would never had thought that it would take so much power but even the salesman who sold me on it said that it should be no problem as long as the power is clean.
Well I used it for two full weeks of very heavy use with no problems. The output was surprising. It lacked a little of the low end that I was used to. But then again I am used to running a single 15" subwoofer in my car. But this drivers output was more than I expected from anything in its price range. And its sound quality was really really good!
If you were to run 2 or three of these in a sealed application, I would not hesitate to send them more power than what they are collectively rated for, Just be careful!!!
For me I am keeping this sub. I plan on using it in a Home theatre application this spring and I think it should work out wonderfully.
