Can't Get it Right

I first ordered a pair of cordless room-darkening cellular shades for the baby's room. The shades were fine, but one of the bracket sets was incompatible with the shades. Why would they send different mounting hardware with the same shade?? I got back online and they sent the proper mounting hardware for no charge.
I then got some faux wood blinds for our bedroom, and some wood shades for my office. They were fine and delivered quickly.
But the last order was the American Brand shutters. They looked great in general, but... First of all, one of the panels was chipped right out of the box. No problem...I figured I would fill it in, prime it, and paint it after installation. Secondly, the hardware they mailed in a different package. Get this...the screws and other mounting hardware were wrapped loosely in bubble wrap and placed in a box!! Screws were falling out of the package when I picked it up. After I opened the hardware package, the special square bit needed to screw the blinds into the wall was missing. No problem again...I went to Home Depot and bought one.
Well, while mounting the shutters, something didn't look right. THEY HAD SENT ME 2 RIGHT PANELS!! I called again, and they offered only $25 for my pain, and they reordered, telling me to hold onto the bad shutters. Four weeks went by, and still no shutters. When I called to follow-up, they said the re-order had mistakenly never been made. That's it..game over. I requested my refund and will never buy from them again.
Bottom line is, if they can get your order right the first time, this place is a good value. If they screw up the order, the incompetent customer service will not be able to get it right. Return it for a refund, run, and don't look back.
I finally saw the $25 refund on my May credit card bill.

It just keeps getting better. American said it would take 5 - 15 business days to pick up the shutters, and I couldn't get my refund until the manufacturer (via UPS) picked up the defective shutters. After 15 days of putting them out for pickup, (you guessed it) they were never picked up. I called on May 13 to see what the problem was. Their response (while I was on hold) was to fax the manufacturer another pickup order. They told me I couldn't get my refund because I still had the shutters!!
I told them that wasn't good enough, that they had my $225 since February, and that it wasn't my fault the shutters weren't picked up and that I wanted my refund. After the customer service rep spoke to her supervisor (again while I was on a lengthy hold), she said they would refund my money, less the $25 from above and less a $5 processing fee!! Can you believe it?
At the end of the day, they held my $225 for over 3 months, then charged me $5 for it!!
Stay away!!! You already have too many frustrations in life.
