Prince at the Montreal Jazz FestJul 09 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line His holyness never ceases to amaze me. It was indeed a wonderful night that left everyone smiling. Congrats to the NPG also for an impressive performance If you base yourself on certain reviews that were written in local newspapers, you would think that Prince played a practical joke on Montrealers last Friday, July 6th 2001. The show started off with approximately 90 minutes of experimental, sometimes improvised, but definitely impressive fusion of jazz, funk, R&B with Prince on keyboards, percussion. My favorite was his jazz/soul version of "Girls & Boys". A lot of people were worried that he would not play his hits. I knew otherwise. After a 15-minute intermission, he came back saying "Who was that guy on stage 10 minutes ago??? Are you ready to rock 'n' roll?" and then exploded with with classics, starting off with Uptown and ending with Purple Rain, for roughly another 90 minutes. |
