| clouis's Full Review: JVC TU-DP301DU Digital Satellite Receiver |
I subscribed to Dish Network for almost 3 years. For the most part I was satisfied with their 301 receiver, but I received poor reception for my local channels.
I spent over an hour on the phone with Dish customer service and was told that the problem in reception was likely due to their equipment. This is were a major problem began.
They refused to provide a technician to check their equipment without a hefty charge. I refused and canceled the service in favor of Direct TV - which turned out to be substantially lower cost and better quality reception.
After I had Direct TV installed the Dish Customer retention department told me that my Dish Account had a service level that included Free Technician visits. This was a complete lie.
A week later I received a bill for $50+ for service after having been told that at the time of cancellation that my bill was completed paid up. I called about the bill and was told to ignore it.
2 weeks later Dish Network charged my credit card. I called and was first told that it was a charge for unpaid service. When I confronted them about my previous conversation with them regarding the charge they then said that it was a charge for handling the return of their equipment. I have the bill with the charge on it and it isn't for an equipment handling fee. They have lied again.
I can't say it strongly enough, Dish Network is unethical and should be avoided at all costs. They have my credit card number and have made unauthorized charges and they have repeated lied.
Avoid Dish Network.
