This review is based on my shopping excursions at the Zumiez Online Store, for my teenage daughter. Therefore although zumiez.com has various shopping categories, referred to as shops (snow, skate, guys, girls, shoes & accessories), offers a design your own skateboard area, and provides information about the company... I will share with regard to purchasing junior apparel.
~*~Who Shops Here?~*~
Zumiez Online merchandise is targeted toward skateboarders, snowboarders, and those who appreciate trendy apparel. Typically speaking, the target audience is tweens, teens, college students: female and male. However even this Mom finds certain clothing, accessories, and shoes to purchase. My teenage daughter (14) likes to shop at the Zumiez storefront and the online site. She finds comfortable hooded sweatshirts, pants, shoes, and shirts at Zumiez. Being that the items sold are brand name and trendy, prices are in the moderate to high end, with occasional deals (but don't expect to find Walmart pricing here).
~*~Trust and Looking at the Pics~*~
Importantly, this merchant is trustworthy: orders arrive on-time, are packaged properly, and charges to my card are accurate. As with most sites, you receive confirmation emails. We both appreciate that the site is simple to navigate, allowing you to easily go to the category of choice. Also, it is helpful that the graphics offer true representation of the merchandise sold. My daughter likes the fact that you can zoom in, allowing you to see product details and that many products offer a second picture, such as the back of the pants. This is helpful when you want to know exactly how the cargo pockets on, say, the pair of flood capris look.
~*~Shipping / Sales Tax / Payments~*~
This mercant accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover/Novus, American Express, JCB and Gift Cards. Although we haven't used this feature, a nice attribute of this site is that they will ship the merchandise, free of charge, to the local storefront. As mentioned we haven't used this feature, but a friend has (she was coordinating costumes for a talent show and liked the ability to forward links to the parents, yet place the order herself, and then have the students pick up the clothing at the store). Shipping charges are reasonable and based on your order total. For example an order total of $50.01 - $75.00, will cost you $6.00 to ship standard (additional cost for express and zero cost for in-store pick-up). You can track your order at the site. If there is a Zumiez store in your ship-to state, then you will be charged sales tax, except when purchasing gift certificates.
~*~Refunds and Exchanges~*~
With regard to refunds or exchanges, this merchant states: "you have 30 days from the date your order was shipped to return any merchandise that you are not happy with. Items may be returned to any Zumiez location or by mail to Zumiez.com." Personally, we have exchanged a couple items at the local storefront, no challenges.
~*~Satisfied~*~
As is indicative, we are pleased with zumiez.com: both the site and the service received. So long as my teenager likes the fashions there, we will continue to shop at the storefront and the online site.
