We like the Doodlebops!

Pros: Fun danceable music, positive messages for kids.
Cons: The talking wig-stands are really creepy, and I'm not crazy about the talking moosehead either.
The Bottom Line: Don't be put off by the eyepopping colors.

My 3yo daughter and I just started watching the Doodlebops, and we both enjoy the show. I like how it exposes kids to different styles of music (doo-wop, jazz, even some opera), the choreography is a lot of fun to try to recreate in the living room, and the characters are positive, kind, and good natured toward each other, which is more than I can say for a lot of kids' shows, even some on Playhouse Disney ("Lilo and Stitch" comes to mind--what a grim and dreadful little show that is!).
I think the themes covered in the show are good ones for the preschool set, for example, why it's important not to be too bossy with your friends, and that the dark won't hurt you. Like most shows for kids this age, the Doodlebops follow the same format every episode, starting with Moe hiding from the other two and proceeding through the mini-adventure, advice from Mazz the manager, more mini-adventure, a trip on the bus, and a live show at the end.
The show reminds me a lot of the Monkees. It's the same kind of faux rock & roll that just seems so cool to the right age group. The costumes are fun and silly, and my daughter likes to point out "the pink one," "the blue one," and "the yellow one." Sure, some of the song lyrics are pretty lame, but overall the music is fun, with catchy hooks.
I agree some of the characters are potentially scary for little ones, especially the talking wig-stands. They're just weird, and a meaningless visual for which young children will have no context (unless their parents happen to be opera divas). Also could do without the Doodlebop pledge.
Overall I say kudos to Disney for bringing another cool import on board!
