thanks for the comment. My kids are now 18, 13, 11 and 9 and I catch them wathcing the show and digging it.

I am sure they would have like it as toddlers and I would have suffered through it - now I just get called into the room when they think something will make me laugh.

Well, it's better than Barney. (Reply to this comment)

In all honesty, I like the show pretty well, but I was giggling through the entire review, and when you got to the part where you started busting on poor Rooney, I gave myself a diet soda nasal rinse.

Gotta mop up the keyboard and screen now. Ouch. Carbonated stuff hurts when you blow it out of your nose.

I can understand why it might be annoying to you. Heck, it's annoying to me, and I kind of LIKE the show. My 18 month old loves music, so she digs it. She dances along. So what can you do. :-) Fun review!

Turn it off (Reply to this comment)

I am so sick of every movie and tv show trying to incorporate a gay character. I don't want my son thinking that real men are supposed to talk and act this way. I make sure to turn the channel every time this show comes on. Shame on Disney for their poor choice in creating this show!

Doodlebops ROCK! (Reply to this comment)
by zoenkaileysmom
I'm very disappointed in the review written - i have two children (2 years old) and since we have discovered the doodlebops, they have done nothing but grow. For 20 minutes, my two girls sit and watch these three people perform. They dance to the songs, they even try to do the dancing (i have one that tries to break dance). They have learned so much (they have been slow in learning to talk) and this has helped them - they are always looking for Mo. The music is great (the newer episodes, not so much). But, this is really a great show - i make sure that i sit down and watch it too. What a great show!

I'm an educator and I can say that there's nothing bad about the Doodlebops. Of course they must look kinda weird to adults and to people who don't have children. Or even to parents who rather want to put their children in front of a violent video game. There's nothing terrible about the way they look or something. They are colorful, they are different, but they are nice loving persons. This is what children need, they want colors and all that stuff. And they love them BECAUSE they're different. And this is what most people make mistakes about - someone is different, so it's bad! But it's NOT!!!

I laughed at least four times reading this review. The other times I was smiling. I heard some laughter in my head, too, but those giggles might have been coming from the ghosts.

I first saw the Doodlebops while sleepily channel-surfing. They freaked me out. I was more disturbed by this trio than I was when I first saw Barney and that 15-year-old passing as a 10-year-old homosexual.

But I'd just woken up, my finger was tired, and I couldn't work the remote. I continued to watch. And watch. And now I've got a big problem.

I'm sexually attracted to DeeDee.

Was Seinfeld right? You can come up with any brand of freak and there's going to be some group who's sexually attracted to it?

I like the Doodlebops. Hell if I know if they're educational. I honestly couldn't care. I want DeeDee. I want to marry her and make her wear the costume.

Before you all jump on me, I know: I'm a total freak. But I've heard it said that the Doodlebops' fan base consists of toddlers and grown men. I shiver at how sick that sounds. Yet, I'm an enabler.

I've never heard of this show before... (Reply to this comment)

...but I can tell you what the picture makes me think of:

It makes me think that these characters can easily be reproduced as expensive toys which "every" kid has just got to have--not to mention that their silly clothes look as if they just might show up on the shelves and racks in the most expensive section of stores where people go to shop.

Merchandise guaranteed to make your kids whine, kick, scream, and hold their breath until you buy it for them!

Write On!

I'm so glad someone else has the same perspective. I thought playhouse Disney was just trying this garbage out on our poor children and would figure out, like they have with that pig and duck mini show, that none of us are amused or entertained. Thank you also for saying what I have been dying to say about Rooney. I can't stand it when he says "We've had the best time today" EEEWWWW!!!! I just hope my son doesn't start trying to mimic his moves because I believe I will cry. At the very least, we have a little masculinity in Moe and, to my relief, he is my son's favorite of the 2 boys.
The real tragedy here is that my 19mo old son is enthralled with this rubbish. I find Canada to be very passive-aggressive by funneling this show south.

The Doodlebops make Barney look like a MENSA member. This is the only show on the Playhouse Disney lineup that my two-year-old absolutely hates - he'll start screaming bloody murder whenever this monstrosity comes on. And to think they dropped PB&J Otter for this???

My recommendation is to see what Noggin and NickJr. are showing instead.

My Two Year Old LOVES Doodles (Reply to this comment)
by lovesgadgets
I love your reviews, but this one is a bit slanted. You failed to mention the value of their songs and dancing. Granted the story lines are not the best, and I agree, I don't want my child to ride a bus with a stranger. But, how can you rate Teletubbies better than this? Instead of teaching children English, we'll teach them "baby talk"! But that's a whole different review I'll have to comment on. :) The Doodlebops are a good show and besides the colorful sets, I don't see any corelation between this show and PeeWee. You were a bit too hard on Bob too. The guy is simply their bus driver. I never got the idea that he was creepy.

Many a child enjoys this show and many a parent or sister or brother loves enjoying this show with them

You are very biased. But younger children get a kick out of it (Reply to this comment)
by ashw
A three year old probably would love this show. They get to watch singing and dancing and they interact by singing and dancing along. But when the trio plays hide and go seek, the first place they look is where Moe is, but when deedee and rooney miss him the three year olds think hey silly, he's right there! and they get a big laugh out of it. it might disturb anybody over the age of eight, but any younger and they have a good time singing and dancing and playing games.

You nailed the D'bops right on the head! I found this review to be absolutely hilarious, but frighteningly accurate. Disney needs to rethink their choice with this program - it definitely needs to have the plug pulled permanently.

I have to watch this......I am actually a huge fan of bad TV and this sounds like a hoot. I just will have to make sure my daughter isn't around in case she sees it and actually LIKES it thereby wanting to watch it every day!!

Great review and, as always, thanks for the laughs. (My daughter asked what I was laughing so hard at after I read the spirit hands/Just Jack comment!)
