You are so right about the museum in Vienna....dark, gloomy even. I wish I had had a longer visit to Minneapolis so that I might have visited this museum. Thanks for describing it in such vivid detail. Excellent. Tom Barnes

I always love a good art gallery....will have to keep this place in mind next time I'm passing through MSP.

Thanks! The Summit Ave. houses, including Hill's have great views down to the river. I think that there was an exhibition of paintings that had belonged to Hill on loan back when I was there. I also noted that all the Fitzgerald residences were on the other side of Summit Ave., away from the river views.

I haven't been here for a while. I remember seeing a photographic exhibit on the upper-most floor all the way in the back last time I visited. -Dave
PS-I may be seeing the James J Hill House this weekend...they're having tours of all the old homes on Summit Ave in St Paul!

The Walker's addition is open, and heavy construction is underway on the MIA. I didn't have time to go to the Weisman last week, but read a sign on I-90 that said "The SPAM Museum is Better than an Art Museum." I was already on my way there. Stay tuned!

The MIA website has images of more than a thousand pieces in its collection, so what doesn't travel can at least be glimpsed on-line.

Our first apartment--- (Reply to this comment)

---after we married was a block from the Minneapolis Art Museum! Never went through it, but often went to the Walker Art Center, another smaller but excellent art museum that I'm sure you have visited. I've noticed a major expansion in process at the Mpls Art Museum for the last couple of years, that may be nearly completed about now

Have enjoyed taking our grandkids to Children's Theater several times---a treasure for Minnepolitans!

Your review made me feel VERY nostalgic! Thanks!

Since I know I will never be able to get out there to see these treasures, I wish they would take them on a road tour. I know they never will; probably be far too dangerous and expensive, but it would be nice for people who live far away to get a chance to enjoy them. Great review - next best thing to being there.
