...this terrific site and really like it so far. I appreciate the warning from Horswispr and you though about people overpaying you. I was offered just such a thing yesterday from a guy in England who wants to buy (overpay me) my old car, sight unseen. Sounds too good to be true. I'm glad I found out in time.

In the personals, many posters "borrow" pictures of someone else. I imagine there are flakey sellers of other commodities, too. (More so than E-Bay? Could that be possible?)

Still, the most recent two tenants to whom I've rented found the apartment on CL.

Re: Beware scams when buying or selling (Reply to this comment)

I get that warning in the email before I post my ad. I mostly deal with barter or free and would never accept a check from someone instead of cash. Although I have taken checks with no problem from ebay members, the amounts were not that much to make a major difference.

Thanks for the reminder on this scam.

Beware scams when buying or selling (Reply to this comment)

fairly expensive items on Craig's List. I recently put one of my guitars up for sale and received several emails from distant persons feigning interest in the instrument. They try to suck you into a peculiar plan where they overpay for the instrument (with a check that eventually bounces) and have you refund the balance. They wind up with your money and possibly your instrument. Craig's List has multiple warnings on the site about this kind of thing.

I enjoy this website also. I've read it regularly when I was job hunting, looking for a 2nd dog to keep my dog company.

A friend of mine actually found a man in New York who was coming out here for business for a couple of weeks to stay in her house (rental), and take care of her dog. They of course emailed several times and talked on the phone. His wife came out for a weekend. It worked out great for her, and they all became friends. I think it is a wonderful service.
