The Bottom Line I think Epinions.com is a chance for me to voice my opinions, good or bad, and have it really count for something.
I've been an Epinion member for nigh onto three days now and I think it's pretty cool. After a couple of days I didn't think anyone was ever going to read my reviews, then on the third day there were 23 members that read them. I haven't received any good reviews from other members yet, but I'm learning. It's like a job, the more you do it, the better you get at it. I've got a long ways to go and I know I'll make mistakes (probably tick some people off) but that's the learning experience. One of the things I've learned in life that might be good to pass on to the beginner, is to read several Epinions of others, pick what you think is their best tool and then build onto it. For example, I read one the most experienced members advice, and even though I didn't agree with everything they said, the part where he/she said to rate every Epinion they read, good or bad, was a good idea. Then I read one of the least experienced members advice and the part where they said they just don't give a ~%@$&*, was good ( I ended up blocking that person, he/she was scary). I now implement both these ideas to my own Epinons and continue to add on to them. Another example I read, was that a member didn't like to read an Epinion that was all in one bunch of words. You see, when you write a review, the published work will end up as one paragraph. If you hit the enter key twice, between sentences, it will put a space between them. Making it not appear as one paragraph. They said they didn't like it, but they didn't tell you how to fix it. I had to learn that on my own, by hit and miss. I don't think there's any one way to do things, what works for one person, may not work for another. Try to use the same techniques you use at work and then implement them into your own Epinions. For the most part, have patience, don't let anyone get you discouraged, and have fun with it. If your not having fun, what's the point? |
