| jdrost's Full Review: Motley Fool Message Boards |
I found the Fool in September of 2000. My boss had just given me stock options, and I had been encouraged into enrolling into the company 401(k) by one of my co-workers. Here I was, 23, with no idea of what to do with EITHER of these things. My parents were not good money managers, so they were of no help. Heck, they're in the mid-50's and they don't even have 401(k)'s! So you can see where I'm going with this...
Long story short, I found my way over to the "Fools of a Feather" section of the message boards, where I found separate topics on Employer-Granted Stock Options, Foolish 401(k)'s, Just out of College Fools, and Consumer Credit Cards. All topics that I was itching to learn more about! So I just hopped in and join the discussions.
The people who contribute to these boards are completely welcoming, understanding folks who have either been through what you have already and have come out o.k. (which is great encouragement!) or are there to give you advice or a new perspective on your ideas.
It truly has become a part of my life, it helps me stay motivated to pay off my credit cards, and it's a refreshing thing to see people interacting in such a genuine way for the benefit of their fellow "Fools".
