I am picky. I have to have use fabric softener when I am doing the laundry. I just don't feel like my clothes are clean and smelling fresh. Yes, I am spoiled. To me a fabric softener is a must.
-What I expect from a Fabric Softener-
I want value. I am always looking for a sale, however I believe that you get what you pay for. I will not use a generic softener. When I open my bottle of softener, I want to smell something amazing. I want my clothes to come out feeling extra soft, and smelling great. I want to be able to add the amount of softener called for in the instruction on the bottle, without having to feel that I want to add more because the product seems to be weak.
Why I chose the Ultra Downy
I decided to try the Ultra Downy Fabric Softener, because the store that I was at seemed to be out of everything thing that day. It was either taking a chance with the Downy, or trying some generic pink stuff, that was like $2 for a gallon. I doubt I would have been happy with the pink junk. To me this tiny little bottle of Ultra Downy seemed a bit pricey. I did not feel like fighting the crowds at Walmart, so I just purchased the Downy anyway.
Ultra Downy Fabric Softener Description and Pricing
Wow, what a tiny looking bottle! As I was reading the bottle, I noticed that it said that it would do 20 loads. I noticed that it was an "Ultra," so I was assuming that meant concentrated.
The bottle itself is made from a light blue thick plastic. It has an adorable little girl with mountains in the background. I chose the only scent that the store had, which was the Mountain Spring scent. This bottle ran me $3.99 for a 20 fl oz bottle. I am sure that there are other scents available, although I don't know what they all are.
I was looking at the twist cap. I noticed that it had the drip proof top. The cap was green, and I could not get over how tiny it was. Honestly, I almost did not purchase this product. On the back of the bottle it had mentioned that you can use this product with the Downy ball or during the final rinse. I do not have a Downy ball.
There were a few Warnings on the bottle. "If you are using fleece and terry cloth with this product, it could make your fabrics a bit more flammable. There was a caution on using this product on children's sleepwear."
I did not see any warnings on what would happen if you were to accidentally consume this product. Please don't!! I always keep my chemicals under lock and key away from children. Why take a chance?
The directions were easy to follow, and mentioned how far to fill your cap, depending on the size load you are washing.
I also found this nifty little number on the bottle in case I had any questions about this product: 1-800-688-7638. Also, I found that there was a website: Downy.com. Downy is a Procter & Gamble product.
-My Experiences with Ultra Downy-
I first opened the cap. MMMM.. it really smelled wonderful. I added the proper amount to the final rinse of each load that I did. When it came to dry my clothes, I could still smell that wonderful fragrance that I had started with.
While drying my clothes in the dryer, I could smell a hint of Mountain Spring scent throughout my home. I really loved that. There is nothing like the fresh scent of laundry in your home.
I went to fold my laundry, and I could feel the softness that was comparable to my other brand that I use. I must say, that it may have been a bit better than my favorite brand. The only other difference between my favorite brand, and the Downy was the price. The Ultra Downy is a bit more expensive, but so worth it.
The only complaint I really had, which was my own fault, was that when my daughter went to do a load of laundry, she thought the cap was to tiny too. She added four caps filled to the top, of this product to one load!! So make sure you take the time to read the directions. You don't need to use as much with the ultra.
We did not experience any skin allergies, or irritations from using this product. My daughter seems to be allergic to everything. Even with the misuse of this product she did not experience any reactions.
Overall
This product was a hit. Its a bit pricer, but it is worth it, if you are picky like I am about the laundry.
