We stayed at the La Quinta Manhattan in the first week of May 2005. The only things we can think of that are good about this hotel is the location and the price. We recommend not staying at this hotel in the summer because the AC never worked in our room. We stayed for 4 nights and asked to have the AC fixed each day. The front desk staff was unapologetic however not rude. We could tell they were getting tired from people complaining about the AC (we weren't the only ones). They did however send up a maintenance worker every time we requested but they never fixed it. We finally got a window-mounted AC unit on our last night (better late than never).
I wouldn't recommend using the business center either. It's down a narrow and deep flight of stairs with practically no ventilation and smelled of urine almost every time we tried to use it. If you need to use the internet, I suggest either using the connection in your room or use the internet cafe across the street.
For the money, we probably could have done better. The location was good though. Only a block walk in either direction for different subway lines, but if given the chance, I would stay somewhere else in a heartbeat.
