| Techdude49's Full Review: Bello AVS-422T A/V System w/3 shelves for LCD, Pla... |
Hello,
I picked this stand up at Circuit City for $212. I will cover a few areas of interest in this review: Setup, Quality, and Functionality.
From the display model, I noticed the quality of the welds. The construction seemed very solid and the pieces fit together nicely. The bottom and center shelves (rated at 50lbs capacity) were very sturdy and made of thick tempered glass. The top shelf for the TV (capacity unknown) looked like it could support up to 200lbs. The metal construction of the supports have good quality powder coating with a high quality matte finish. The supplied bolts are decent quality, but nothing special.
The stand weighed a bit over 100lbs in the box and barely fit in the back seat of my Nissan 200SX. Once I arrived home, I was able to carry it over to the living room and remove the contents. Bell'O included an Allen wrench and Philips head for the assembly. After verifying all the pieces were in the box, I started the assembly by attaching the cable management component to the side supports. Next, the shelves were moved into place and secured with retaining screws.
Leaving the top shelf off, I moved the unit into the permanent viewing position and setup my Receiver, DVD Player, and VHS Recorder on the bottom shelf (depth 17 3/4"). The depth of the shelving was just right for my Kenwood VR-209 receiver (with attached banana plugs,) but my Pioneer VSX-1014 was over an inch too deep to fit on the shelf. I took my Paradigm CC350 center channel speaker and placed it on the middle shelf. After connecting all my wires, I placed the top shelf on the stand and put my 170lb Toshiba 32" flat screen on the center. The AVS422T was easy to slide on my tile floors, but it did require a little effort to get it moving.
The top shelf is placed at a good height for viewing from over 8 feet. While the shelves are not adjustable, there was plenty of room for two components side by side. The ventilation is very good due to the open design and generous spacing between shelves. The center channel placement is not too low and the TV is not too high.
Overall, the setup looks very modern. I would recommend two changes to Bell'0: a larger diameter tube for the cable management, since the shelving integration removes about half of the depth, and deeper shelving to accommodate big THX receivers.
P.S.
The cable management section of my unit was damaged when I opened the package. I called Bell'O customer service and they had a replacement shipped to me within 4 business days.
