I simply do not know how men like myself survived prior to on-line gift shops, such as Proflowers.com, when it came to events such as birthdays, anniversaries, thank you, etc. If you are like me, you are the type of person who procrastinates or conveniently forgets special occasions. Proflowers.com was my solution to this problem. They have definitely won my loyalty when it comes to sending flowers and miscellaneous gifts like candy. Please see my detailed review below:
Grading System A through F
WEBSITE: B+
Upon entering Proflowers.com, you are greeted with a very colorful homepage with many options available. Down the left side of the webpage, you are able to browse by product. At the top of the page (and bottom middle) you can browse by occasion - this option was created by an absolute genius. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I wouldn't know the first thing about the type of flower that goes with a specific occasion (and I'm sure there are many more like me out there). One time for our anniversary, I browsed by occasion and my wife was just shocked at how good of a job I did at making a selection.
Proflowers.com does an excellent job of putting very large and accurate pictures of the flowers they sell on their website. I was very impressed that the product I received looked just like the picture shown, which to me is obviously important.
The best feature of the Proflowers.com website is when you are finished with your order, they ask you to list as many special occasion dates as you would like and they send you email reminders of that event a couple days ahead of time. Being that I cannot remember what happened yesterday, I truly love this service that Proflowers.com offers.
The only drawback that I have noticed is when you are checking out, your total cost seems to be mysteriously hidden off to the left side of the website in very small font. I really don't like this and that is why I dropped this grade down to a B+.
SELECTION/VARIETY: A+
Proflowers.com offers so many different types of flowers that it will make your head spin. I think it is impossible to go through their selection and not find something that you like. They offer roses (my favorite), tulips, lilies, Iris, plants, mixed bouquets, gift baskets, fruit, chocolate/other candies and more. You could even by premium steaks!! There is definitely something for everyone at Proflowers.com.
SERVICE/PRODUCT QUALITY: A
I've ordered from Proflowers.com at least 20 times and they have always delivered on time. Only once did they deliver a sub par product and even then they replaced the flowers the next day and refunded my money. Good companies always give good customer service and that is why Proflowers.com keeps getting my return business. Every other time I sent flowers through their website, I get nothing but praise and thanks from my recipients.
PRICE: A+
Where else can you buy a dozen long-stemmed roses and have them delivered for $40 the next day. 15 years ago it cost me close to $70 for the same product, so in my opinion, that is a great deal. In addition, if you put in one of Proflowers.com's secret codes (I know that one of them is "ROMA"), they give you a free glass vase. They will also give you an option of adding a balloon, teddy bear, or delicious Ghirardelli chocolates to your order for a reasonable fee.
SHIPPING/PAYMENT OPTIONS: B
Shipping costs are $9.99 for standard delivery and an extra $3.99 to have them delivered in the morning. You can have your purchase delivered next day or you can pick a day a month in advance. Be aware that they do charge an extra $9.99 if you want your purchase shipped on a Saturday, however, that is pretty much a standard practice. One option that Proflowers.com should add to keep up with the times is the ability to pay with a Paypal account. Currently, the only options available are to pay with a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Diner's, JCB and Discover), or with a Proflowers.com gift certificate.
OVERALL: A
I have no other choice but to give Proflowers.com the highest grade. As I stated above, I have ordered through them quite often and have never had a negative experience. The customer service department is very kind and helpful if you ever need to deal with them. If you have not used their service, I would recommend that you do. This company has transformed me from a forgetful ingrate to a very thoughtful and generous gift giver.
