I started using CVS Pharmacy online a few years ago. One of the reasons I like using CVS.com is because the shipping becomes free for orders over $49.00 (pretax). I often save up my purchases and order them online and wait for them to be delivered to my door. I originally thought that $49 was a lot to be spending at the drug store but there are many things online to buy like diapers, toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo, and make-up.
Ive outgrown baby supplies now but I use to shop online at CVS.com for feeding products because they carry the Avent brand which I couldnt always find at the local stores. It was also convenient to have baby formula and cereals delivered to my door.
I usually order my makeup from CVS because I dont have time to make such choices in a store with my kids. The products that I use cost the same as they do in my local discount store and CVS.com always has the shade that I want. I like that the make up products are much fresher in quality than they seem to be at my local stores.
CVS.com has two options for prescription medicine. The user can order their medicine online and have it mailed to their home or order a refill to be picked up at the brick and mortar store. I have used the prescription pick-up service, but not the delivery.
To order a prescription online you will first sign up online with your personal information, and fill out the medical insurance information. The pharmacist will contact the users doctor for verification of the prescription. Even refrigerated medicines will be me mailed but will require signature.
Of course over-the-counter medicines are one of their specialties. The selections are arranged by brand name. Once I find a product I can click on the details hyperlink which will take me to the product detail which includes a description, directions for use, ingredients, and warnings.
For an additional savings you may want to consider the CVS generic brand. I dont buy much over the counter items but during the flu season I dont mind spending $3 less on generic decongestants, they usually work just as well for me. For example, the CVS brand version of Tylenol Extra Strength 250 capsules is $6.40 cheaper. CVS has a 100% no questions asked return policy for CVS brand products.
The only thing that I dislike is how long it takes to actually receive the product. Shame on me for complaining about free shipping, but it takes a week or longer to receive the products via UPS Ground. I haven't had a prescription delivered but the shipping procedure is different for prescriptions.
The other thing that I dont like is the search feature. For instance, if I use the Search box for toothpaste it will show only a couple CVS brands. I have to click show more and the products are all mixed up. I also have the option to use the Shopping Isle tab at the top of the home page. I would click the personal care isle, choose the oral care link, choose the toothpaste link, and then would have the option to search by brand. The website saves me time when I know what I want but if Im just browsing its hard things. Also, the items cant be sorted by other things such as price which is a drawback for me.
This site has always been reliable for me. I am able to find the products that I need easily and I am confident in their generic CVS brand for extra savings on over the counter products. My orders have always been correct and I haven't had anything damaged in shipping. I have never had a need to contact customer service.
In comparison to other online drug stores it doesnt offer as many fancy features but theyre not missed by me.
