Pros: Life changing experiences
Cons: Seemingly pricey until you remember it's an inclusive resort... everything is paid for, except alcohol

Wow, can it really have been over 3 years... (Reply to this comment)

... since I wrote this review?? Well, things don't stay the same and Mirival is no exception. They have new owners and Opera has had a profound impact. Things that have changed? There is no longer free laundry service. There are condos coming. My favorite waiter is missing.

Actually, the answer is... not much the price still includes all but alcohol and gifts. Even the tipping is included.

The best thing, I guess, is that most of the staff has been there for awhile AND most of the staff I've spoken to is happy to be there. That says a lot.

Whoops! I missed the boat on this one, there was no notice of a comment here... sorry it took so long to reply!

But, to answer your questions:

Do you think it's a good place for a solo traveler? I'm a woman in my late 20s and fear i'll feel lonely/left out.

The first time I went, it was solo. I made lots of connections and some fast friends. Many people go solo and my first recommendation is to go to the "Miraval table" for singles, where you can meet lots of folks and not have to worry about eating alone. After that, I just asked anyone sitting alone if they minded if I joined them.

Are people dressed casually or to impress?

One can dress as one wishes. I have seen some folks go to dine in their bathrobes, and some dressed nicely.

Any other specific spa treatments/activities you'd recommend? Or avoid? Thanks

I recommend the Aqua Zen spa treatment, the Mindful Eating session and the Equine Experience all whole heartedly. I had life changing epiphanies during them. For feeling great, I recommend the Ayurvedic Ultimate massage.

I can't say what I would steer clear of, I haven't found that yet.

Thanks for reading!

First of all, I think you wrote a great review. I'm going there by myself in a few months and have a few questions that I hope you might be willing to answer.

Good question! I totally missed that one! Upon checking at the web site, the price is around $500 a night but if you look up the specials, there is a "Bring a friend" special or a 5th night free special.

I hope to write more here and there, but I'm not holding my breath - you know how hard it can be to get some free time.

Ooohhh! This sounds SOOOO nice. I gotta ask, though, what does it cost?

Great to see you back here! Thanks for all the nice comments on my reviews. :)
