Good DVI monitor, poor analog monitor

The display is big - visibly larger than a 20" LCD - and very bright.
Compared to other LCD monitors I have, the 213T is very bright, and the backlight is much more blue. This color contrast can be a jarring in a dual-monitor configuration.
The digital (DVI) input works well, and the image quality is excellent. However, when I use the analog input the image quality is problematic. For example, highlighted text (black text on a gray background) appears with white fringes around the text, making it difficult to read.
The problem occurs at the optimum resolution of 1600x1200 with 60Hz refresh. For comparison, I attached a Viewsonic VP201m LCD monitor to the same analog signal, and noted that the display quality was excellent. Since another reviewer also reported problems with the analog signal input, this may be a design issue rather than just a defect in my unit.
On the Samsung 213T, I tried both the automatic and manual picture adjustments to eliminate the image quality problem. Using manual adjustments I was able to reduce the problem, but not so much that I would consider the monitor usable with the analog input.
Because of the problems using the Samsung 213T analog input, I would use only the digital (DVI) input. For dual-monitor configurations, this might cause problems. The video cards I have that support dual monitors provide one DVI output and one analog output. Since the analog output must be attached to a monitor that does not have the image quality problems, and that monitor might have a different backlight color, be ready to deal with a jarring color contrast on your two monitors.
