I feel so stupid for not reading these reviews first... I was scammed. With all the online shopping I do, you'd think I would know better. I hope you've gotten HERE first and are reading this BEFORE YOU BUY!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!! I wish I could put a link out there to all prospective buyers to BEWARE!!
I have had a similar experience with WAWA Digital as most of the reviews on the FIRST PAGE! My credit card company has now taken over this dispute and I am out of it because I NEVER want to speak to them AGAIN!! I don't understand how a company with pushy, lying, beligerantly rude salespeople can stay in business. Isn't there anything that we as consumers can do??
Here is my story. I hope it helps you to decide not to do business with WAWA (aka The Computer Store (on the phone), The Computer Whiz Inc (on my credit card statement), R&S Digital (on the fedex statement)). I too had done my research on the particular camera I wanted. Now I know to do research on the seller. You should too. I saw the low price and I thought if Shopzilla had them listed, that I could trust them. Warning, if you ever see no rating yet, do not buy from them. But I thought I would try them out. They did have the lowest price on a listed 'new' Kodak.
When I did not receive email confirmation of my order within three days, I called them. They say you're not supposed to mention specific names on these reviews, so I won't, but I spoke to a man who said I had picked out a wonderful piece of equipment but that the camera I wanted only had a battery life of 15 minutes. This sounded weird to me, and I told him that I didn't believe that Kodak would put out a camera that only had a 15 minute battery life. He said it did and that I needed to purchase a two or five hour battery. He said the two hour battery would cost $69.99 and the five hour battery would cost $99.99. I told him that I wanted to shop for a better deal on the battery and he said I would regret it, that HE had the best deal. When I hesitated, he said he would sell me the five hour battery for the price of the two hour. I still was hesitant so he said he'd throw in a leather carrying case. I asked if a tripod mount came with it and he told me that no cameras come with a tripod mount but that he would throw that in too~ all for the low price of $69.99. He said he was giving me a great deal with all the extras he was throwing in and that I should just say thank you. WHAT? Yes, you heard me right. My baby was crying on my hip and I really wanted to get this order done with, so when he said he'd charge my card $345.00, I said fine. Keep in mind the camera was only $229, the 'necessary' battery was $69.99... He never did give me a total for shipping, handling, taxes and insurance... but a calculator helped me out... after we hung up. I checked the website too and they have that 'necessary two hour battery' for $39.99. I called him back to tell him about my findings and he told me that it was as different battery, he told me that he gave me a great deal and that I should just enjoy it... and then hung up.
I wrote an email within hours to cancel my order. The next night I received an email from someone else within the company who said to call customer service and they would "help me out". I requested for the second time to cancel my order and email confirmation that my request had been handled. The next morning, I checked my credit card to find that they had charged my card, even though I had canceled the order. Then I received a notice via email that my package was on its way via Fedex with a tracking number and all.
Fedex was here today and I refused the order. Fedex employees are the best, very helpful people. My credit card company has already credited my account back (I love Citibank), I'm contacting the New York State Attorney General to get this 'store' closed down for unethical business ethics, and I am contacting Kodak and urging them not to let these con artists sell their products...
I hope this helps you. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.
