| davequick's Full Review: Linn Tukan |
I use the Tukans as rear channels and I have Linn 5120s and a 5140 for my front channels. I have listened to this setup for 3 years now!
I had to wait while the 51xx speakers were on order... using the Tukans as my main listening speakers for music and video for the duration of that wait.
These speakers are simply wonderful bookshelf size speakers if driven with a suitably powered and pure amplifier and good audio source. You'll rediscover music you've listened to for years with a new found sense of clarity, balance, and neutrality that I find really appealing. Bi-wiring is an option I highly recommend with active filtering.
These speakers (like any bookshelf speaker design) have poor response below 70hz which is expected but prompts my 4 star out of five rating - I know it's by design but I could not use these as my main speakers in a listening room so I give it 4 stars.
By the way you can add the grills from the 5120 speakers to protect the drivers (which I did).
