The Bottom Line A great way to maintain a diverse DVD collection in your home at all times!

I first tried NetFlix on a trial basis, in search of some free movie rentals. Since then, I have become a full-fledged member, taking advantage of every benefit.
NetFlix is not your ordinary rental service. Based online, each rental comes (and is returned) via mail. Being DVDs, movies can be sent in a simple envelope, which easily converts into the pre-paid return envelope. There are various levels of membership which allow you to have from 3 to 8 movies in your home, at a time.
Since membership is monthly, the possibilities are endless. You can get your movies, watch them immediately, send them back, and get even more. You can keep the same movies for months on end. Or you can fall somewhere in between. The important thing to remember is that you can return each movie individually. (I've had one movie since my very first shipment.)
By creating an online rental queue you are ensured a quick shipment upon their receipt of each return. Simply browse or search through the online catalog, renting all the movies you want. You can go to your queue at any time and easily prioritize the movies listed. Plus, you can add movies that haven't been released yet, so that they are already in your queue once they are available.
When a return is received, the first movie in your queue is sent out to you immediately. If the first movie is out of stock, they will wait an hour to see if it arrives, before moving on to the next movie. NetFlix is in excellent email contact with the consumer. You get emails announcing arrivals of returns, shipments of new rentals (and approximate arrival dates to you), and periodic guides to movies and more.
One last special feature of NetFlix.com, is that you can rate (and even review) movies, creating an intelligent recommendation base. NetFlix can recommend movies to you, and even attempt to tell you what you might rate a particular movie. Aside from a 5 star scale, you can note that you haven't seen a flick, or even that you aren't interested.
More than anything, I've grown to love the fact that I don't have to trek to the video store to pick (or even return) a movie. I have a consistent variety available in my home. Mail timing was an initial concern of mine, however, I've never waited more than a week between returning and receiving discs.
Epinions Note: This service/site is listed twice here at Epinions (this is simply a typographical confusion: once using a capital "F" for NetFlix.com, once with a lower case "f" for Netflix.com, I have contacted them in this regards. Once the two areas are merged, I will remove one of my duplicate reviews (each placed only once under each title)
