Not an easy task, given the task at hand, but...

The Bottom Line This topic made me think long and hard, as reviewing movies was once what I did, but here is the list I compiled. Hope you enjoy!
I have listed the top ten movies ever. I should say that I
based my selection on entertainment value and not the
movies that were best movies in the movie's history. They
would include The Great Train Robbery, Steamboat Willy,
Fantasia, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Wild Ones,
Rebel Without a Cause, and Rocket to the Moon. Keeping
that in mind, I have presented this list of ten with short
explanations as to why I feel this way. They are not in any
special order and I may have left one out that should be here,
but here they are:
Gone With The Wind
The mere undertaking of a film of such a historic subject alone
is a task that few movie producers will do justice. The value to
keep alive the biggest lesson that can be learned concerning
why war is so futile to mankind. Pitting brothers against
brothers and men of one nation fighting for their beliefs, this
movie lets the viewer experience a degree of the Civil War's
impact to the United States of America.
Ten Commandments
The costume and scenery alone were enough to make this
movie rank as one of the top ten, however the thing that I
feel makes this movie rank so highly is the fact that it
brings the Word to life on the screen. It's impact on society
was immeasurable.
ShawShank Redemption
The entertainment value alone is mammoth. I am not
alone at ranking this movie as one of the top ten movies.
If you haven't seen this one, you need to soon.
Romeo and Juliette
The sensitivity level is high in this William Shakespear
story. The tragedy of a love that is extinguished by
feudal families ends up in the loss of both partners in
love. In the end, no one wins. There is a lesson to be
learned in this movie.
The Robe
More great film making. Hollywood had the advantage
of starting out with a story that had been past down
through the years. The ironic thing is that many never
knew the first thing about any of these films until they
hit the big screen.
Ben Hur
More life and times of when the man many claim as
their savior walked on the face of the Earth. His story is
told and is seen from a different angle. The tragic thing
about this movie is that the man who got run down in the
chariot races actually succumbed his own death. The
actual scene was opted to remain in the film.
Rainman
As is the case in any movie made from a real life situation,
this shows value has an added degree of entertainment value.
The acting of Dustin Hoffman as the autistic brother was the
making of this film. Tom Cruise's acting of the brother not
facing the challenges of autism ws strong and believable.
M.A.S.H.
M.A.S.H. was thought by many to be set in Viet Nam, in which
the United States was involved against many of the American's
wishes. Nam was seen as a senseless war and M.A.S.H. was an
instrument to voice their opinion. It's popularity was so strong
that it bled over onto the T.V. screen. Radar O'Riely was the
only of the original cast members that made it through the Koren
War on the silver screen and played the T.V. role. Little known is
that he always carries something in his hand (usually a clipboard)
to hide the fact that one of his hands have a deformity to one of
his finger digits.
It's A Wonderful Life
This movie has been around and will be around for years to
come. If you haven't seen it you must have been in a comma
during the years that this movie's copyright was up for grabs.
During that period, you could not flip the channel on
your T.V. without running into two or three running of the
movie. Ted Turner cashed in on this movie by applying for a
new copyright. Although you will not see it as often as during
those days, you will surely be able to view it yearly on T.B.S.
Schindler's List
This is another movie that brings the true tragedy of what the
history human race has handed down as a lesson to be learned.
Although many people choose not to believe that the movie is
fact, the real tragedy is that the movie is just that, based on
reality of humans attempting to eliminate other humans in
mass. Gives credence to Rodney King's " Why can't we all
just get along? "
