An Opinion on Living Nature Skincare Products

The Bottom Line Living Nature Skincare Products: Effective, Natural and Brilliant!

I have had such good experiences with these products - such amazing experiences - that I am going out of my way to get them some much deserved advertising. No, I don't work for the company, but I am endlessly grateful to them for the brilliant product they have come up with. I cannot find an appropriate category to put this opinion under, as Living Nature does not seem to have a place on Epinions, so if anyone can think of a more suitable category or discovers that the brand has been included in the list, please email me and I will sort it out.

First, I am going to give you the website so you can rush off and buy some products of your own: www.livingnature.com. Now, for those of you that haven't immediately succumbed, I'll tell you a little bit about the background of the products.

Philosophy

Basically, Living Nature is a New Zealand based company founded by a woman called Suzanne Hall, who created a range of skincare products, from cleansers to lipsticks, that are natural, pure, and based entirely on botanical ingredients. She wanted to create "chemical free healthy holistic skin and body care" with her products and, most importantly, achieve real results. A pretty standard claim, you might think. The difference is that while some companies claim to incorporate “natural ingredients” and “botanical extracts” into their products, it is my (probably cynical and misguided) opinion that these are added as part of a tired advertising tool to crack the female “all-natural” target group and win themselves accolades for being a caring company that utilises the natural resources surrounding us...Fair enough. Everyone would like to use products that aren’t full of chemicals with unknown names and origin, and marketers milk that desire shamelessly. Are we even more shameless to succumb to these glorified and trumped-up claims? Are the manufacturers laughing all the way to the laboratory?

Yet Living Nature lives up to its admirable philosophy and I know many people who have seen real, unimpeachable results. Me, for one. I have some products right here in front of me that are going to illustrate my point nicely and make me feel vindicated:

Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion with Aloe Vera Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, C11-13 Isoparaffin, Glycol Stearate, Stearic Monoisopropanolamide...all the way down to Aloe Vera Gel which is number 17 on the list. What exactly is isoparaffin and do I want to be putting that on my body?

Living Nature Nourishing Manuka and Honey Day Cream Ingredients: Macadamia oil, jojoba oil, pecan oil, water, palm extract, manuka honey, wheatgerm oil, rosehip oil, cocoa butter...

You get the idea. Manuka, by the way, is highly praised for its restorative and healing history in New Zealand, and manuka honey has antibacterial properties especially good for sore throats. Just ask www.comvita.co.nz (based in my home town!) Living Nature products: (plagiarised from the website) contain no synthetic chemicals or preservatives, no animal ingredients, no mineral oils, no parabens, no radiated ingredients, no genetically modified ingredients, no herbicide or pesticide residues, and, the packaging is recyclable. I like that. You probably will too.

My Experience

I'm 19 and am therefore barely out of my teens, and still suffer the skin problems that go with those horrendous years. Living in Dunedin, which has a harsher, colder and drier climate than what I was used to in the (beautiful) Bay of Plenty, my skin became very dry, very blotchy and altogether unbearable. My mother sent me a Living Nature travel pack for Christmas '00, containing a Purifying Cleansing Gel, Hydrating and Revitalising Flax Gel, Protective Non-Oily Day Cream and a flower soap. I applied the cleansing gel, rubbed for a few minutes, rinsed and patted the skin dry. My skin felt soft and clean but slightly dried out. But never fear! I then applied the revitalising gel, which feels oddly soothing as it drains into your moisture-starved face. After waiting a while (30secs) for it to sink in, I then applied the moisturising cream which has a lovely scent and left my face fresh and soft, and myself rejuvenated.

My mum always sends me skincare products so I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary, but after about a week of using the products morning and night my skin looked much better. It was smoother, it was softer, and "blemishes" (as our cuddly marketing gurus like to call them) had all but disappeared, and at the very least had made their presence less felt. The overall feel and look of my skin was much, much improved. I was thrilled to have found something that actually WORKED! Glory be! The small, travel sized 50ml bottles lasted for a while, as I felt I didn't need to use as much product as I normally would. The bottles, when empty, are handy for refilling with shampoo etc when travelling, and packaging is recyclable and refundable.

My sister tried the same products as mine with rave reviews, and my mum soon built a small Living Nature stockpile, hopefully applying Rosehip & Herb Antiwrinkle Oil and Firming Flax Eye Cream. Her partner self-consciously uses the Men's range, which contains products for sensitive skin, shaving cream, after-shave gel, and anti-wrinkle eye gel for those sun-blasted males in your life. It's difficult getting Kiwi men to look after their skin and my boyfriend has so far refused to indulge in the products, but he can't hold out for ever!

My favourites are Manuka Honey Hand & Body Cream, the travel cleanser, gel and moisturiser I mentioned before (also available in larger bottles), Nourishing Manuka & Honey Day Cream and Vitalising Creamy Cleanser. The only product I didn't like was the Deep Cleansing & Vitalising Clay Friction Peel - I found it difficult to use and harsh on my skin (my mum likes it though).

So far, I have only used the skincare products, but the Living Nature range is quite extensive and contains individual oils for specific skin problems, such as nappy rash, eczema, burns or chapped skin. "Blends" are products that you can use in the bath, in a vaporiser, or directly onto the skin for homeopathic effect. Shampoos, natural lice treatment remedies, lipsticks, essential oils, soaps, travel packs and gift boxes are also available.

I strongly suggest you visit the website right now to browse through the huge range of products. Prices are quoted in US dollars and you can phone, fax or email them with enquiries. Give Living Nature a go. Give your skin a real treat!

Do I sound like a parasitic marketer yet?
