Pros: Program includes journal, so you can keep track of what you have eaten.
Cons: Unhealthy diet, difficult, expensive, unsuccessful, pressure to buy their products, no flexibility. Lotsa fine print...
The Bottom Line: RED ALERT: The staff uses charts to measure their sales progress and they get bonuses for selling extra products that do not work.

| xpctng1's Full Review: L. A. Weight Loss |
WHY LA weight loss for me?
SO, it just so happened that I hit my all time frustration level with losing my baby weight and LA weight loss was running a special on 1/2 off the fee. I think they used some kind of advanced algebra to find out how long it would take me to shed my 35 extra pounds. The final calculation was - it would take me about 17 weeks, or $400...That's half off, folks! The regular fee was $800. It sounded good to me at first because the staff said you get 1/2 off your money back the day you have completed the program. To me, that sounded like a deal. Hey, I'll be losing all this weight, and it will only cost $200. But, there is a huge catch- read on!
The program: Precise measurements of fruit, veggies, proteins and starches, no exceptions - except - LA weight loss products. The high pressure, gimmicky bars that you have to purchase seperately ($25/box every week), vitamin, herbal supplements, shakes, snacks, etc. would have equaled about an extra $500 month, depending on which products you choose to use. The staff says the only guarantee the program will work is if you use the bars (they contain soy). The bars first 5 ingredients are made up of some kind of sugar, or sweetener. So, yes, they are good. You want those bars because the diet program itself is so inflexible and hard to use. Constant calculations, measurements and inflexibility when it comes to food choices make it way,way too complicated.
The scoop on my weight loss: I dedicatedly followed the program for 6 weeks. I actually gained 3 lbs over the first two weeks on the plan. The staff said it was probably just 'my body adjusting to the plan'. I finally lost those lbs, then 1 more over the next 4 weeks. But, they give you this "deadline" you must lose your weight by that evens out to 2 lbs a week. SO, After 6 weeks, the reality is I only lost ONE lb!! The staff at the center just shrugged it off and said everyone's different, they also tried to mix up order I was eating my starches, fruits and proteins, thinking it was the order I was eating in. What a ridiculous, frustrating experience for someone who has had much success in the past on WW and going low-carb.
1/2 OFF B.S. : Basically, if you do end up losing the weight by the end of your deadline, LA weightloss will give you 1/4 of your inital fee back BUT - big,big BUT!! it requires you to weigh in 3 times a week with a staff member over the course of your weight loss (very fine print). Then, you get an additional 1/4 after a year of maintenence. BUT, big BUT - you have to continue to buy the bars and weigh in every week. I thought I could use the weigh ins, and counseling, but the diet was not working, so it was shaming, b/c I knew in my heart I was sticking to it.
My success: if anyone has read this far and is the slightest bit interested, yes, the weight is finally starting to come off. I am doing a combination of counting calories (weight watchers style 1 point for every 50 calories) plus, I have cut down on bad carbs. 8 lbs down so far - 3 weeks. That's the way it should be.
Losing weight is not easy. But, it's also not enjoyable when you have decided to change your diet and try to make strides and there is some gimmicky diet plan that takes your $$ and does little else. I will NEVER, EVER recommend this plan to anyone and will be sure to tell everyone who cares my story about how this big monetary mistake was a good lesson and motivator for me to quit LA weight loss and go it alone and start seeing success.
Good Luck to everyone.
