| mountainhigh's Full Review: Lysol Disinfectant Spray Crisp Linen Scent |
I think most of us have used Lysol Disinfectant Spray before and probably agree that the smell is okay but reminds us too much of a sick room, which is why I was so happy to find that Lysol is now making different fragrances to choose.
Having to germicide in our living quarters, due to my husbands illness, I have to keep on hand many products to keep the germs astray. Lysol Crisp Linen Scent Disinfectant Spray is another product that has earned that place in my cabinet. Of course, as always when choosing my scents at the store I have to do the whiff or in this case, the sprays test to see if I like the smell.
The Product and the Germs it Kills
This comes in a white 18-ounce spray can. The can states that it "kills viruses; bacteria, mold and mildew". It also claims that it "kills 99.9% of germs in 30 seconds".
Lysol Disinfectant Spray is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency as a disinfectant and they claim it kills many different viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew on environmental surfaces. It will also eliminate germs (and the odors associated with them) on hard nonporous surfaces such as doorknobs, toilets, bathrooms, telephones, garbage pails, pet areas, showers, sinks, counters, under sinks, diaper pails, and empty clothes hampers.
Use it to control mold and mildew on mattresses, pillows, shower curtains, and books.
The product also states to use it directly on drapes, upholstery, and curtains to eliminate odors.
Lysol states it kills 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus (staph) and Kiebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) on hard non-porous surfaces in 30 seconds.
Lysol states that the spray is "tuberculocidal" and kills the following bacteria, fungi, and viruses:
Bacteria and Fungi: Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA); Streptococcus pyogenes; Salmonella cholerausis; Campylobacter jejuni; Escherichia coli;
Fungi: Athletes Foot Fungus, Mold and Mildew
Viruses: Rhinovirus: The "common cold" germ; Rotavirus: Causes infectious diarrhea in children; Respiratory Syncytial Virus: Causes lower respiratory infection in children; Poliovirus Type 1; Adenovirus Type 2; Herpes Simplex Virus Types 1 and 2; Hepatitis A
According to the Center for Disease Control, "A tuberculocidal is a disinfectant that is potent enough to kill Mycobaterium tuberculosis as well as a broad spectrum of other pathogens like HBV, HCV and HIV through surface disinfection".
How to use it
For surfaces it is recommended to spray from 6" to 8" away. The surface should be pre-cleaned. The product should be allowed to air dry for 10 minutes.
To disinfect you should spray 2-3 seconds until you see a mist.
To sanitize let the product stand for 30 seconds on the surface.
Cautions
Do not use on polished wood, painted surfaces, leather, rayon fabrics, or acrylic plastics.
It can be hazardous to humans and animals. Can cause eye irritation. Do not spray in eyes, on skin or clothing.
If it comes in contact with your eyes, remove contact lenses, flush eyes with water for 15 minutes and get medical attention if irritation persists.
The contents are flammable and under pressure. Do not puncture can and store under 130 degrees.

My Experience
The fragrance is pleasant and is more like an air freshener than a germ killer smell. I know this product must work on fighting germs because both my daughter and son have come home with the sniffles or sore throat forgetting that they cannot go into the same room as their dad without wearing a mask. I quickly spray the Lysol everywhere they went and on objects that could have gotten germs on it and kept my fingers crossed that he didnt get sick.
I was so impressed that this past winter was the first winter he did not get sick with a cold or flue and it would have to be contributed to all the germ killing products and extra precautions that are taken.
I realize that it is very hard to think serious about something as small as a germ since you cannot see it, taste it, or smell it. But, believe me that these germs can bring you down, especially if you are already in an immune resistant stage. It is not worth taking the risk, when there are products like this on the market that can help kill these bad germs.
Lysol Crisp Linen Scent Disinfectant Spray has definitely won a spot in my cabinet. In fact, I found it in a travel size and take it with us when we have to venture out.
If you really like the germ killing power of Lysol but not the regular scent, you will really like the Crisp Linen scent. It isnt a girlie smell for the men and it definitely doesnt smell like a hospital.
I hope you keep this powerful germ killer in mind on your next shopping expedition.
