The Bottom Line Great, easy to use and moderately priced...I highly recommend L'Oreal Products.
I've waited and waited for Epinions to open up with more hair products for review...I was very happy when I read a review by Photogirl814 about L'Oreal shampoo, and realized that there is at least a category that I could put a review about L'Oreal Preference Hair Color. Thanks Kath!
I started dying my hair about 6 or 7 years ago. Yes, that is right...the blond tress that you see in my photo is not my natural hair color. I'm sure that doesn't come as a big surprise to many, but what may be surprising is that my natural color is a very dark brown, and L'Oreal Preference les Blondissimes is able to bring it to the extra light ash blonde that I am today.
My second daughter (leigh789 on epinions) attended cosmetology classes while she was in high school. Of course she needed a 'real head' to work on...and what better person to use as a guinea pig, than her Mom. Actually I was a very willing participant...I'd worn my hair the exact same way for almost as long as I can remember. Long, straight, parted down the middle...in other words '60's style.
Although being a blonde really appealed to me, I thought that I would have to go through bleaching my hair out, stripping it of all color in order to get it that light.
I decided to be content with lightening my hair some, and figured since it was so dark that I would need to use the lightest coloring I could find. I assumed that I would get a lighter brown color...and I would be happy with that.
L'Oreal Preference les Blondissimes
Going to the store and looking at all of the coloring really confused me about which one to pick. I remembered hearing L'Oreal's commercials and hearing the words Because I'm worth it and decided to treat myself to a little more expensive product. Normally I go the cheapest route, and often regret it. On average I pay $7.50 - $8.50 for my hair coloring, but I can sometimes find it on sale for buy one, get one free and try to stock up on those occasions. L'Oreal has many colors to choose from...and the only limit you'll have as to what color your hair will be, is your own fear of making a change.
Each box contains: Premium Colorist Gloves..these are thick gloves, not the cheap flimsy ones. No Mess Color Gel and Color Optimizing Creme in Applicator..these are very simple to mix together, cut the top from the applicator bottle and apply.
Care Supreme Continual Conditioner...this is BEST conditioner I've ever used! It is a real selling point for this product. Each box contains a 1.8 oz tube of this wonderful conditioner. You apply it after rinsing out your hair coloring, and then use once a week for up to six applications. I love the way my hair feels after using this conditioner, it leaves it shiny and smooth and smelling good.
First Application
My daughter and I bought two boxes of L'Oreal Preference les Blondissimes #LB01, Extra Light Ash Blonde for my first time using it, since my hair is long and we wanted to be sure of complete coverage. She applied it using the simple applicator bottle, we wrapped my hair in a cap and waited the 45 minutes before I rinsed it out. WOW...what a surprise! At first, while it was still wet, it looked like a light red color. I wasn't sure how I felt about becoming a redhead, but was really happy when I dried my hair and realized that 'I am a blonde!'
Continuing Use
I've continued to use this hair color for my 'root touch ups'...about every six weeks I need to cover the fact that I am really a brunette. It is very simple to mix the Gel and Creme together and touch up my hair. I usually buy only one box for root coverage, but occasionally will buy two and do a complete coverage of my hair, just to even out the color. It is easy to apply and takes me only about an hour and half from start to finish....application to blow dried.
What you should know about L'Oreal
I have been very pleased with L'Oreal Preference les Blondissmes Hair Coloring and how easy it is to apply, how well it holds it's color in between dying, and of course the ability to lighten very dark colored hair! What you should know is, that this is a wonderful product that I highly recommend.....Because I'm Worth It!...and you are too!
