FatWallet.com is a cash back site where you make purchases through the participating stores listed on their site and you in turn get a percentage of your order total posted back to your account. The percentage is based on your total order not including shipping/handling or taxes. After the cash is posted to your account, it usually takes about 3 months for the amount to be available for a check to be sent to you.
When I first heard about FatWallet.com I was very skeptical, so as soon as I had enough money to request a check, I did. I have now been a member for over 2 years and have not had any bad experiences with them. The one time I did experience a problem was when I was placing an order through Oriental Trading. I originally started my order directly with Oriental Trading, stopped placing the order (but forgot to delete the items in my shopping cart). Then I went to FatWallet.com to reorder my items so I could get my cash back. I did not realize that the order I had originally started was still there, and since it was started without using the FatWallet link, I was unable to collect my $3.25 I would have received for my order ( I agonized over this for weeks as this was one my very first orders using FatWallet.com).
Alas, I recovered and have continued to order through FatWallet.com without any further incidents (I simply make sure that any orders I place, I start through FatWallet.com)
To date I have earned over $190 with FatWallet.com and this has been from November 2004 to June 2005. My orders have been correct 99.9 % of the time. The .1% being my last order with Drugstore.com. It was a 2 for 1 sale and I was supposed to receive 2 bottles of Downy Fabric Softner and only received one. I called Drugstore.com customer service and a $2.00 credit was issued to my credit card within 3 days.
Some of the stores I have used through FatWallet.com are:
DRUGSTORE.COM (6.6% cash back, plus for me, no Tax and
free shipping all the time - you also can accumulate drugstore.com $ for you future purchases. My orders are always received within 5 days of placing the orders. I order from here frequently. Our school did a childrens band aid fund raiser to donate boxes of character bandaids to the local pediatric ward of a hospital. I was able to get about 100 boxes for less than $1.79 per box because of a sale they had going - excellent price and it was a tax deduction for us. In dealing with Customer Service they were very apologetic, polite and issued me a $2.00 credit. When they ship any items that may leak (shampoo bottles), they wrap them in plastic so it doesn't damage any other items in the box.) Drugstore.com also frequently has freebies with purchases which I take advantage of and they do have good sales.
CATHERINES (3% cash back - I received my order within 4 days of placing the orders - I was able to make any returns right to the local Catherines store. If you have a perks card with Catherines it's worth it. I was buying summer clothing I'm a last minute shopper - they had what I wanted, I was able to take advantage of sales they had going on and got the extra 3% off - shipping costs were reduced because of a coupon code provided on the FatWallet site which shows up when you click on the store link.)
SEARS.COM (2% cash back - we ordered from here and arrange to have the items picked up in the store. Upon getting item home it was broken and had to return it - they would not credit the American Express card that was used and appeared on the invoice because my husband had to be present (it was in his name) so the credit had to be posted to my Sears card account - this was a Sears issued)
MAGAZINES.COM (21% cash back - excellent value - great savings - I started receiving the magazines I ordered within 4 weeks of placing the subscription orders.)
1800FLOWERS.COM (7% cash back - I have ordered through here several times and the flowers have always been fresh and arrived when I requested them. Never a problem.)
SPILLSBURY.COM (6% cash back - 2 of the items I ordered were broken - Customer Service replaced them in overnight delivery because they were Xmas gifts and did not even request the items be sent back - One was about $35.00 - delivery was about 10 days for my original order during Xmas season.)
KBTOYS.COM (3% cash back - Another Xmas season purchase - all items were received within 10 days of placing my order.)
ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY (3% cash back, free shipping)
OFFICEMAX.COM (3.3% Cash Back, plus free shipping - items usually received within 2 days of placing my orders - kids school supplies, office supplies. - Never any problems.)
ALIBRIS - (5.5% cash back, some books free shipping as well) I go here to get all the books my kids need for summer reading, gifts and to also have an extra copy of their math and social studies text books at home. Most books received in less than a week, all have been in brand new, or almost never used condition.
BARNES AND NOBLE (4% cash back - took about 2 weeks to receive the order, but again in time for Xmas.)
SHARPER IMAGE (6.6% cash back - ordered an Ionic Breeze Pet Brush - I don't think I'd order from here again because I don't think several of their products can do what they claim!)
In all of the above instances the stores reported the purchases back to FatWallet.com and the money was showing up in my account. There is a Balance & History Link that shows you your activity month by month. My purchases which I made in June 2005 have been reported by the stores I made purchases through and the money will be available for me to request a check by the end of September 2005.
Whenever you click on one of the store links a small window comes up where you can leave yourself a message as to how much you spent. FatWallet.com sends you an email every month to show you your click through activity so you can check to make sure any stores that you did purchase from reported the purchase back to FatWallet.com.
FatWallet.com offers more than just the Cash Back options at an many popular stores and websites. They also have a Free Stuff link that gives you information on items you can get for Free. There is also a Hot Deals link that tells you about deals some stores are offering.
One thing to look for is when you go to use a coupon code (not listed at FatWallet.com - when that little box pop up it will tell you if the cash back is voided if a coupon code is used.) I haven't had this happen yet and found that the coupon codes offered through FatWallet are current and usable and an excellent value at the stores I have been buying from.
It costs nothing to join FatWallet.com and for me it just gives me a little bit of extra spending money towards our summer vacation. I have been extremely satisfied with FatWallet.com and hope they can prosper in the future so I can keep getting my Cash Back.
