I am writing on company insurance coverage that our places of businesses give us as one of our benefits. My husband's company offered Health Partners insurance. The coverage we thought was decent, and we liked the idea of being able to choose our own doctor. We recently found out to our amazement the true color of the insurance company. My husband required a day procedure with radiation. The procedure only requires 2 hours and the hospital watches him throughout the day no complications he goes home. To make the story short we submitted the request for the procedure.Assuming that it would be processed. To our surprise the procedure was denied, because the panel of doctors felt that there was not enough cases of the condition that my husband has to pay for the procedure he needed even through the success rate is over 75% relief. I was in disbelief that an insurance company can override the doctor, but guess that is just what we get from our company insurance coverage. We have since won the appeal on this decision and my husband will now receive the operation, but not before he has had to use all of his vacation, sick time, and he has to face missing work without pay because of Health Partners. I am very upset with the coverage of Health Partners and if your company offers this insurance company for coverage I would think long and hard before taking it.  |
