The Bottom Line I would highly recommend that you pick up book one, Eye of the World, and embark on this adventure as soon as possible.
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is without a doubt the best series ever written. The series has been so powerful that it is now considered a separate genre within the Sci-Fi category. Well written and entertaining, Robert Jordan has taken this type of fiction to another level with an all-encompassing universe.
There are 9 books in the series thus far, with no fewer than 3 more promised by the author prior to the culmination of this saga.
The characters are very three-dimensional, and as easy to identify with as some of the more standard sci-fi faves, ie. Luke Skywalker, Jean-Luc Piccard, etc.
The story movement is detailed, yet rapid enough to keep even the attention deficit crowd interested and involved.
I am anxiously awaiting the release of book 10, and can honestly tell you that "The Wheel of Time" is not just a fantasy series, it is a way of life.
