Twice I have been a customer of Zenni Optical. The first time I would have given Zenni three to four stars, however, the second time my experience wasn't that good. Before I go on, here is a summary of my humble opinion: Don't expect great quality. Don't buy frameless/rimless. For tracking purposes, send all returns via UPS or FedEx.
Ok, so here is the long version. In May 2004 I bought my first pair of Memory Titanium frames (aka, frame No.1). The frames arrived (as promised) two weeks after the order was placed. I initially ordered these frames to replace my aging sports glasses but I liked the style so much, they have become my daily frames. The only flaw: About three months after I received the frames the blue paint started to chip off. Although Zenni promised to send me a replacement frame, it never happened and I'm not keeping my hopes up either ... the frames have been discontinued for some time now. Frame No.1 deserves a three-to-four star rating.
Frames No.2 and No.3 I ordered in Spring 2005. Frame No.2 is the same style as frame No.1 (memory titanium but in gold with tinted lenses). Without question, I'm giving frame No. 2 a five-star rating. However, frame No.3 (memory titanium, rimless frames) arrived in the wrong color; they were pink instead of the ordered burgundy color. Zenni tried to convince me that the color on their (old) webpage may be somewhat off, but believe me, the frames were PINK. Anyway, I was told to return the frames and as soon as Zenni would confirm my claim they would re-issue the order - expected waiting time: three weeks. After three MONTHS I placed a phone call and got an answer "We never received your frames". Luckily I send the frames via UPS and had a tracking number with delivery date information (according to UPS records, the return address is a garage!) All the sudden they found the frames and finally re-issued the order. I got the frames after 10 business days (right color) but the lens alignment was just plain awful. It took me Quite some time to adjust the frames (not easy with titanium frames) and they still don't fit perfect. At least the color hasn't chipped yet!
Although the website claims to use the latest "manufacturing ... systems", I beg to differ. Zenni's quality control surely needs reviewing!
In summary, don't buy rimless frames and hope for the best that you get the right color and style. Because, if you have to contact Zenni, customer care is one-star at best. My rating is solely based on the frame quality and price, NOT on the customer support Zenni provides.
