Charlotte's Web is a book that has been in my family for many years.
This was the book that I read when I was young, then my children read this book and now my 4 year old Grandson wants it read to him whenever he sleeps at my house.
Charlotte's Web is a story about a little girl named Fern who saves the life of a runt pig named Wilbur.
Wilbur is a bashful, playful pig who is sent to live on Fern's Uncle's farm until he is grown up and ready to be slaughtered.
Wilbur and all the animals are able to talk but can only be heard by Fern and the other animals.
Wilbur meets Charotte A. Cavatica, a large grey spider that lives above Wilbur in a barn.
Charlotte is a very special spider who can spin messages in her web.
These messages help to save the life of Wilbur as they describe how wonderful Wilbur is and thus he becomes famous and is spared.
The story also has other characters who add humor and charm to the story.
They are a rat named Templeton, a goose who is quite funny and an old sheep.
As the story comes to an end Charlotte dies after laying many eggs and her passing greatly saddens Wilbur.
The only payment he can give for her kindness is to carry her unborn spider eggs in his mouth thereby giving them life as Charlotte had done for him.
This story is written by E.B. White a well known author of this book as well as the children's classic, Stuart Little.
Wilbur is a book that deals with friendship, death, loss and changes such as Fern growing up and finding the farm too childish.
Although it has a sad ending to Charlotte it is also great reading and has many humorous parts that make this a great story for kids of all ages.
This book has been a staple in our family for many years and one that I think should be added to all children's library because it is a so well written and a very entertaining book for all children.
My Grandson also has the movie on video tape that he watches many times and enjoys this movie almost as much as having the story read to him at night.
Review for write off for Children's Bedtime Story.
