Keep Your Clothes Looking Their Best With Unilever’s All Detergent With StainLifter!

Written: Jul 13 '05
Pros:Works on even the toughest of stains, nice scent, easy pour bottle, measuring cap.
Cons:Need to use companion laundry softener for best ‘smell result’.
The Bottom Line: Get your clothes clean and have them smelling awesome with All’s Clean Fresh Detergent!

Maybe I am strange but I really like doing laundry; there’s something almost therapeutic about it. It’s something that I can do without thinking - sort of like being on cruise control. Doing an average of ten loads per week I go through a lot of detergent and softener products and I am always on the look out for something that will help to keep my clothes looking great, get my whites as clean as possible and something that won’t irritate my skin or have my kids breaking out. I have always like the All family of products but my ultimate favorite is Baby All - the smell is almost enchanting, it works to get stains and ground in dirt out of clothes and costs a lot less than Dreft. Sadly, Baby All isn’t something that is a common product here so I have to use other products in the Unilever family. I tried this version of All when it was on sale and I really liked the way that it worked on my gym clothes as well as my socks. Since I am still dealing with a rather pesky foot ulcer I am changing my socks about three times a day and need to get them as clean as possible when I toss them in the washer.

All Detergent With StainLifter Clean Fresh Scent

I consider this to be an all purpose type of laundry detergent that can be used on all types of clothing and according to the bottle it is also safe for use on childrens polyester sleepwear that is labeled as flame resistant. This could be a huge selling point for parents with smaller children and it is something that people should really take notice of when buying laundry and softener products. The bottle has an ‘easy pour’ spout and comes with a measuring cup cap; this means you don’t end up wasting a lot of the product when you are pouring it out and measuring it. I like the fact that there is no dye in the detergent and that it can be used on everything from demin to polyester blends. This is one of the few products on the market that will get the sweat marks out of my gym clothes, be it the sport bras or the sweatshirts I wear to the gym, they all end up soaked in sweat and if I don’t have a tough detergent to get out the mineral deposits from the sweat they will eventually turn or fade.

Normally I toss the clothes in the washer, pour the detergent over it then start the machine but with this product I’ve found that it works best if you add the detergent and then start the machine allowing it to fill about half way. This way the soap gets mixed with the water and starts the foaming action, then all you have to do is toss in the clothing and remember to close the lid. I normally wash my whites twice since I hate using bleach on them but there have been a few cases that I’ve only had to wash them once when I used this version of All, that’s how well it works. It will work on pretty much any type of stain or dirt that is on the clothing and if you are someone that works in the garden or plays baseball or softball - this stuff works great to get out the ground in dirt on the knee areas.

The Scent Factor

This version of All has the Clean Fresh scent added to it. It isn’t overpowering or offensive and it isn’t something that lingers in clothing for days on end. The only problem that I have had with this is that if you use a different scent for a liquid softener or dryer sheet you might end up with something that doesn’t really smell all that great. I did try the Clean Fresh scented dryer sheets but they are pretty hard to find these days so when I use this on clothing I go with a dryer sheet that is unscented so there is no conflict with the scents. The Clean Fresh scent is nice, it sort of reminds me of a spring scent - not too strong but not too wimpy.

The Bottom Line

I really like the way that this version of All tackled the tough stains on my socks and keeps my colored clothing nice and bright. Since I don’t use bleach for my whites unless it’s absolutely necessary, I am always trying out new products to see which ones will work best to keep my clothes looking great and this is one of the best products when you have ground in dirt or socks that look like they’ve been through a mud patch. This works great to get out the sweat marks from my gym clothes but it’s gentle enough to use on my delicate items as well. This is an all purpose type of laundry detergent that can be used on almost every type of fabric but if you have any questions about it, call Unilever before you use this, they can be reached at [800] 298-2408 and will be more than happy to assist you with this and any of their other products.

As always, thanks for the read!
